Hello everyone on the splinterlands community! This is my very first post on this community.

I’m still a newbie on this game so I’m very much inexperienced. I started playing this game in Mid-June but then forgot to sign it using my hive account. I properly signed into the game beginning of this month- July.

When I started playing the Splinterlands, I kept loosing all my battles even after I read the guide and played the tutorial battle, to say I lost about 20 is an understatement. It was almost as if I was on a loosing streak. Sometime last week I thought I had actually won a battle but it turned out that my opponent surrendered last minute so technically I didn’t win, so much for the joy I felt then. I then took it upon myself to get to learn the game, slow and steady wins the race. I then proceeded to watch a few YouTube videos for beginners like me and then replayed to tutorial battle and went through the guide again. After that I tried engaging in battles but I had was trying to hard to pick the best cards I could find while trying to fit it into my mana cap, due to this I kept running out of time. This happened for like 5 consecutive times until I decided to give myself a little break to calm down. Luckily for me, the next time I played being Saturday 9th July, I won the battle. As expected, I was suprised I won at first but when reality dawned on me I was really happy.

To be honest, I’m still confused about a whole lot of things concerning this game but wining my first battle has made me want to put in more effort in learning the game and becoming better at it as months go by.

Now it’s time to talk about the battle!

COMBAT RULES AND MY STRATEGY

As usual, the combat rules were standard for that match. The Mana cap was 20, all the splinters were playable.

For my strategy, I honestly didn’t have anything planned, I only knew that it was advisable to put a Melee monster in first position, make sure to always consider monsters with a lot of speed as well and never to put a range monster in first position. With that little knowledge I then decided to put together my team.

For some weird reason I decided to try out the death splint. Since I was considering the size of my mana cap, I decided to pick Contessa L’ament.

I picked this particular monster because it had a melee attack, speed and health. I made sure to put a melee monster in first position like I said earlier and of course I was trying to use as many cards as possible for this battle so I considered the mana cost as well.

I decided to pick this monster because it had a Melee attack and X3 speed. It’s ability was sneak, which I heard is a good opportunity because they attack your opponents weakest card.

This cards ability was sneak. Why not have two cards that can attack your opponents weakest card? This one cost more mana because it had x5 health, x3 speed and x2 Melee attack. To me, this was a good card.

Although death elemental had a magic attack, I think I just considered the speed which was x3 while I decided to have a card with a magic attack for once.

For chaos agent, I was looking for what to complete my mana cap with. I didn’t even know it wasn’t part of the death splint. It only cost one mana so I decided to go for it.

For my last card, I decided to use soul strangler because for one it had x2 ranged attack which no other selected card had. The x2 health and x2 speed was an added bonus.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, I’ve learnt from my mistakes which was mainly not having a plan. Despite the fact I won this battle, I was rather clueless. It was just out of luck.

For my plans to improve, first and foremost I need to get a spellbook because I do plan to take this game seriously and I also plan to make money off of it. The spellbook would go a long way in helping me. So yes, when I get the money that’s definitely the first thing I plan to buy. I also want to improve on my strategies and lineups. This would help me climb up the ladder, no one wants to remain a novice forever.

Lastly, I would appreciate it if I got comments on how to get better at this game since I’m still very inexperienced.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!😇
