Splinterlands | The SALTWRAITH CORSAIR is a Little Useful Ranger

Hello Splinterlands Warriors,

Welcome back to another fresh and juicy Splinterlands post, and I hope all of you are doing pretty well in your lives and enjoying a great and energetic day with your loved ones. Now, for those of you who are actively and tirelessly playing this web3 card-based strategy game and working your ass off on building your NFT card and asset collection in splinterlands, I believe all of you have already started grinding this fresh new ranked season that was launched just today and trying to climb your way up the ranked trophy ladder to reach your goal. If we take a look at the current ranked season timer, there are still around 14 days and 10 hours left before the season reset happens. So there is plenty of time to build momentum, increase your trophy count and reach your destination, and later aim for better rewards by capturing a leaderboard position if you are feeling strong and confident. Just keep this in mind and make sure to manage your battle energy meter properly throughout the season, so that you don't end up missing them when needed the most.

Now, talking about my own progress in the Frontier mode of this game, I am currently playing in the highest Gold I league tier with a trophy count of around 2,500 after the recent season reset. My goal will be sane this time as well, which is to reach the 4,200 trophy mark first and then try to push further if possible. Since the season has just begun, there is still enough time to grind consistently.

On the other hand, if we take a look at the weekly Frontier raffle, so far, I have only collected a total of 21 entries. With around 3 days and 21 hours left before the raffle draw, I will try to increase this number to somewhere between 54 and 57 entries. Let’s see how things go this time. I have also opened 3 foundation packs, which I won from yesterday's daily missions and as you can see from the screenshots above, I got myself 1 legendary, 1 epic, 1 gold foil rare archon, 1 rare, and the rest common cards. Not to mention that I am really excited and happy about this pull.

Saltwraith Corsair

Now moving forward, let us come to the main topic of this post, as today I will be taking a closer look at another interesting monster from the Escalation edition. As you have already seen in the title and thumbnail above, today I will be talking about the Saltwraith Corsair. So if you are interested in learning more about this monster card, let us dive deeper without any further delay.

The Saltwraith Corsair is a monster type card that belongs to the Water element and it comes from the Tideborn bloodline. By rarity, this card is an Epic monster, so you will require a total of 46 CC cards in order to upgrade it to its maximum level. Now, if you want to use this monster in battles, you only need to spend 3 mana, which makes it a very flexible option for almost all types of matches, including low mana limit and Little League rulesets. The attack type of this monster is Ranged, and even though it starts with modest stats, it becomes quite useful thanks to its ability combinations. At its maximum level, this monster gains a total of three abilities that work really well together. Let us now take a closer look at its league-wise stats and abilities below to know more about this card.

BRONZE

At level 2, this monster holds basic stats that consist of 1 ranged attack power at 2 speed with 4 health. Even at this level, it gains a unique ability called Kindred Spirit: Stun. This ability becomes very useful when paired with other Kindred-based monsters.

KINDRED SPIRIT: STUN – At the start of battle, adjacent units with Kindred will gain Stun.

SILVER

When you upgrade this monster further to level 3, its stats remain the same, but it unlocks another important ability called Reprisal. This ability forces high-damage enemies into the spotlight, making them easier targets.

REPRISAL – If an enemy unit deals more than 5 damage in a single round, it gains Taunt and if camouflaged, is revealed.

GOLD

As this monster gets upgraded further and reaches level 5, its stats improve and it now carries 2 ranged attack power at 3 speed with 5 health. At this level, it also gains another strong ability called Fury. This ability works perfectly with Reprisal, creating a powerful combo.

FURY – Deals double damage if the target has Taunt.

DIAMOND / CHAMPION

Finally, when you upgrade this monster to its maximum level of 6, its stats improve further and it now holds 3 ranged attack power at 3 speed with 5 health. Even though it does not gain a new ability at this level, the increased attack power makes it much more effective in battles.

Last but not least, I think this monster is a very underrated low-cost card. First of all, it costs only 3 mana, which means it can be used in almost any match type. For such a low cost, it offers a decent attack and solid stats. Another strong point is its Reprisal ability, which is very useful against high-damage enemy monsters. It forces them to gain Taunt and become the main target, which can shift the flow of battle. On top of that, Fury works perfectly with Reprisal, as it deals double damage to those Taunt targets, making this combo extremely effective. Finally, the Kindred Spirit ability adds another layer of strategy. If you place other Kindred monsters next to this card, they can gain Stun, which can give you even more control over the battle. Overall, I think the Saltwraith Corsair is a smart and flexible ranged monster that can bring great value for just 3 mana. What do you think?
