Splinterlands Amazing Battles – Deep Sea Battle!

The rules are Spreading Fury (all monsters have the enrage ability) and Broken Arrows (no ranged monsters may be used in this battle).

With Fire, water, and Dragon as available splinters.

We face @agoojh in this duel.

We go with Water Splinter, which gives us one of the most powerful summoners in the Bronze League, Keyla Frendul (+1 speed, +1 armor), with a host of excellent melee and magic monsters.

Our monsters:

Diemonshark (trample), Captain’s Ghost (affliction), Magi of Chaos, Tortosian Chief, Merdaali Guardian (tank heal), and closing with Venari Wavesmith (protect).

Diemonshark is one of the best tanks on the modern format and even more potent with enrage (an ability it gets on higher leagues), so easy choice here.

Our second position goes to Captain’s Ghost, with a great magic damage attack and a nice 7 HP.

Magi of Chaos and Tortosian Chief bring some solid magic damage.

And closing with the supports: Merdaali Guardian gives a lot of resilience to our tank, and Venari Wavesmith, supports our magic damage and, with Protect, helps our monsters last longer.

Our seven magic damage ignores all armor and should destroy tanks fast. The Protect helps our cards to survive Sneak or Opportunity attacks.

Let’s go over our opponent’s cards, shall we?

Summoner: Keyla Frendul. Wow, mirror match here!

Lineup: Diemonshark.(trample), Flying Squid (reach), Hardy Stonefish, Magi of Chaos, Deeplurker (opportunity), and closing with Venari Wavesmith (protect).

So, our opponent’s plan is similar to ours, maybe a little less focused, as he has a magic and melee damage mixup and just one opportunity monster in Deeplurker.

How will this battle go? Let's see...

Round 1:

Our plan goes very well as the opposing Diemonshark gets down to just 1 HP left while ours gets very enraged with 5 HP left.

Our Merdaali Guardian gets stripped of its armor and is very close to being off by the opportunistic Deeplurker.

Round 2:

The opposing Diemonshark falls fast, as does our healer. But we manage to do some good damage to their second position card, the Flying Squid. Our tanks stay alive for one more round.

Round 3:

Our magic teams make short work of the Squid and even one shot of the Stonefish! Surprisingly our Diemonshark survives with 1 HP left. So his DPS backline gets exposed.

Round 4:

The Magi of Chaos falls, as does our hard-working tank.

Round 5:

The opportunistic Deeplurker falls to the combined might of our magic team.

Round 6:

The Wavesmith falls, victory for our team!

In this battle, we have to highlight the importance of focusing on where our damage goes and what type of damage we use.

Our (almost) all-magic damage team gets sidestepped by the opposing Protect bonus. Opportunity attackers are better when used in conjunction with more than one monster.
