Definition

Enrage is an ability that increased Melee attack and Speed when damaged.

Effect:

  • When a monster with Enrage takes any damage that reduces its current Health below its maximum Health, the Enrage ability activates.
  • Upon activation, both Melee Attack and Speed are increased by 50%, rounded up. This boost applies immediately and lasts for the rest of the battle.
  • Range and Magic attacks are not affected by Enrage.

Strategic Considerations:

  • High-risk, high-reward: Enrage offers tremendous offensive potential by significantly powering up your monster after it takes damage. However, relying on it can be risky, as your monster needs to survive initial attacks to reap the benefits.
  • Targeting vulnerable enemies: Prioritize using Enrage against enemies you can likely damage, triggering the ability and gaining the offensive advantage. Focus on weakened monsters, those with low Speed, or those vulnerable to your specific attack type.
  • Combo potential: Combine Enrage with abilities like Opportunity, Reach, or Sneak to further capitalize on the boosted attack and speed. Imagine an Enraged monster with Opportunity tearing through the enemy team after triggering a counter-attack.
  • Defensive considerations: Don't sacrifice your own defenses solely for Enrage. Consider pairing Enrage monsters with strong tanks or support units to ensure they reach the point where they can unleash their boosted strength.

Notable Rulesets

  • Melee Mayhem - Melee monsters can attack from any position. Increased stats are always a boon in this case.
  • Back to Basics - keep in mind that monsters lose all abilities within this ruleset. Consider whether your monster with enrage is worth including based on stats alone. The summoner Skargore may be worth a second look - based on mana cap, available elements, and other rulesets in play.
  • Noxious Fumes/Earthquake/Explosive Weaponry - These rulesets will help to trigger the enrage ability. Consider placing a sacrificial card in the first position, with your enraged tank in the second position. After the first monster falls, they will proceed to the first position - fully enraged and ready for battle!
  • Keep your Distance/Going the Distance/Wands Out - Currently, all monsters with the enrage ability are Melee attack monsters which are not usable in these rulesets. However, the summoner Skargore will supply the enrage ability to all friendly monsters. The increased stats when damaged may prove to be effective!
  • Heavy Hitters - all monsters gain the knockout ability - double damage to enemies that are stunned. An enraged monster will have increased stats, paired with the knockout ability prepare for massive attacks! Remember to include a monster with Stun in your lineup.
  • Briar Patch - Although thorns will trigger the enrage ability, consider whether the increase in stats is worth the damage.

Notable Abilities

  • Inspire - +1 to all melee attacks. Imagine the damage you can do while enraged and inspired! Demoralize - -1 to all melee attacks. Even enraged, your demoralized monsters will not be able to attack with their full potential.
  • Trample - when a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target with a Melee attack, it will perform another Melee attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team.
  • Halving - If your opponent plays a monster with the halving ability, be aware that the targeted monster will have their attack reduced by half - rounded down
  • Piercing - If Melee or Ranged attack damage is in more that the target's Armor, the excess will damage the target's Health
  • Stun - If your opponent uses stun, your monster will not be able to attack. This could hamstring your strategy if you were reliant on a strong tank for victory. Remember to round out your team with many attack types and abilities.
