How much DEC should I invest each season in Splinterlands to play? - Splinterlands Social Media Challenge
Hello, everyone! Today I'm back with another contribution to the Social Media Challenge initiative created by the Splinterlands team.
Today I'll be talking about a topic that I've been asked about several times, and I didn't want to limit it to a short answer in the comments. Without further ado, let's get started!

One of the things I'm asked most often is how much it costs me to play each season in Splinterlands. Mainly because I'm using a tool like Xbot for Wild Ranked and also playing Guild Brawls and tournaments manually.
Seasons do not normally have a fixed duration. They usually last 15 days, but sometimes they can be extended by one or two days. This means that you have to rent letters for longer than estimated, and the same applies to SPS rentals.
I don't think there's anything else to clarify, so I'll start by talking about each expense until I reach the total amount I spend per season.

The first expense I incur each season is essential for playing with Xbot: purchasing a Wild battle pass, which has a fixed price of 2000 DEC.
It used to be more expensive to purchase one—about two dollars—but now, with the drop in the price of DEC, it's worth about half that in US currency.

After purchasing the battle pass, the next step is clear: rent a competitive deck of cards to continue fighting in the higher ranks and receive much better rewards in GLINT and SPS.
Despite renting, I also have a good base of cards, mainly from the Rebellion set, which I managed to almost max out after obtaining them as rewards throughout the year.

For those who haven't seen the previous posts, to save myself the time of renting all the manual cards, which took me about two or three hours each season, I decided to build a deck on a well-known platform called peakmonsters.
After the first three seasons, I refined the deck. At first, I had placed almost all the possible cards from the Chaos set at their maximum level and, if possible, in their gold version if it was affordable. After that, each season I stopped to see which cards Xbot used most often to see which ones I could remove and save a little DEC.
That way, I've managed to save at least 1000-1500 DEC in rent each season. Currently, the deck I use costs. This last season, renting the deck for a fortnight cost me about 6500 DEC.

Finally, another expense that has increased slightly in recent times is renting SPS to obtain the x10 modifier in GLINT.
Each season I usually start in Diamond III and finish in Champion I, so averaging out over the season I usually average Diamond I, I usually need an enormous amount of SPS to obtain the x10 modifier.

Each season I need a total of 225,000 SPS, which is divided into two payments since it can only be rented for a period of 7 days.
A season ago, this used to cost me two payments of 1,500 DEC, but now the rental cost has increased slightly and orders are not usually filled at those prices, so it could even double.
In the first case, which involves a long wait, I usually spend about 3,000 DEC per season. In the other case, however, it could reach 6,000 DEC, which is not an option for me.

So far, I've mentioned that I'm spending 2,000 DEC on the battle pass, 6,500 on renting cards, and renting SPS for about 3,000 per season. That would give me a total of 11,500 DEC per season, about $6.50 at current value.
A few seasons ago, I would have thought that was quite a high cost per season, but with the latest update that grants transferable reward cards, it makes it worthwhile.

Another important aspect is that thanks to the cards I rent, I have the opportunity to play Tier 4 Guild Brawls and participate in the occasional tournament with juicy rewards in SPS.
