The Roaring Twenties have an ownership model.

You own your seat and can sell it on to somebody else at any time, on any terms.
The Hall is at level 10, and we usually get the Lodge up to level 10 in the first half of the season.
Arena and Barracks are both level 4, and the Store is at level 5.
We're currently battling in 2 star Brawls.

Each seat is responsible for paying for 1/30th of each upcoming upgrade. Crowns is the limiting factor, so I expect it'll be years before we get to max level; but over that time-frame each seat will be responsible for another 406K DEC in contributions.
Naturally each upgrade increases the value of the seat, should the owner wish to sell it on.
The time it takes to acquire the necessary crowns means seats like this don't come up often.

Roaring Twenties is for Casual players, serious investors
So we love to win; but we care a lot more about participation.
Games are meant to be fun, after all.

My gladiators so far.

A long-standing member recently sold me their seat, so I'm auctioning it off to the highest bidder.
We don't look at your battle history/win rate, we just assume the person expecting to make the most of the DEC bonus, will be the one bidding the highest. Capitalism for the win.

No ongoing fees. Just the price of the seat, then 1/30th of each upgrade tier until we're maxed out.

Pretty well actually. We struggle to fill all of our frays, as some members don't play much; they just bought their seat and are sitting on it long term. When SPS rewards for brawls drop, the members who want to brawl will be glad they don't have to push n shove for frays.
I'd call the experiment a success :)
