My daily rants…

This maybe our last season with reward chests. I am somewhat glad and sad. Sad to see it go after so many years having gotten use to the format and finding ways to efficiently earn chests. Then on the flip side avoid the dread awful way of earning less reward chest in higher leagues. That I will not miss.

For each time I move into diamond league my end of season reward chests dwindle compare to if I had stayed in gold. This is due to needed rank points accumulate for diamond is much much greater than gold. The update in battle rewards is to somewhat avoid this with the removal of chests and more towards a points system. In a way it’s really removing the chests themselves which gives away the randomness of earning big with what may become less randomness in earnings. Will have to see how the new rewards program gets rolled out before I get too excited.

Image above straight from Splinterland’s white paper is the breakdown of each type of reward chests. The odds of pulling a certain type of asset is greater to be a card than others things with the higher league chests. Remember all these chests will be accessible to all base on the new point systems. However what worries me is if chest rewards are gone all together and only assets are available on points exchange that there maybe some unforeseen challenges.

I fear this may have a flaw in that most players will be gunning for reward cards. In turn force more cards to be printed than usual making the distribution of rewards cards out balance from other assets. I for one would be trying to aim to earn as many rewards cards possible.

Then there are assets really to enhance the reward chest openings such as potions and merits. Will the new system allow players to buy these assets through points? If so with this freedom of choice will the players go with other assets rather than through potions and merits?

There is optimism that the new roll out will be worth playing but at the same time it’s not necessary going to be automatically better. We will have to wait and see how this all plays out.
