Splinterlands - Avoiding ETH blockchain Due to Gas Fees...
It is likely obvious right now that a lot of players on Splinterlands are aware that using ETH blockchain to transfer assets is not ideal. Obvious since there is a warning to players....
So how high are the ETH gas fees?
Chart above is courtesy from ycharts.com. If we think right now it is expensive it was at an extreme in middle of 2020. Near 750 Gwei average gas price, wow.
So how much is a Gwei? 1 Gwei = 0.000000001 ETH or 1 x 10^-9 ETH. Not a lot of ETH, but since ETH is worth close to $3,000 a token the Gwei fee adds up for it transaction.
As of current stats it costs about $3.8 for a transfer in ETH. Now I have not done an ETH transfer ever since I heard about horror stories from other cryptocurrency users spending more money to mint a card or transfer the actual amount of tokens from ETH wallet into another platform. Bottom line it is too expensive for me to test it out.
Yet common sense here is I would not put up $3.8 in order to do one card transfer when on Hive it is basically free. This is partly why I love Splinterlands so much is that the transactions are free and fast.
Not so surprising Splinterlands is rank #1 in activity from DappRadar.
It is great to see the prosperity in Splinterlands but also in part of the Hive blockchain. Hive uses RC to perform transactions therefore it is recommended to all Splinterlands players to always have at minimum 10 Hive staked in their wallets in order to play the game smoothly.
