Splinterlands - DEC Battle Rewards Updating

DEC Rewards Updating

Earlier today we got news from official Splinterlands that new reward distributions would be made for ranked battles. This is being done to minimize and possibly even eliminate low level accounts farming rewards. The post can be read here. A short summary is Splinterlands will not reward DEC for wins in Bronze League III and under. In addition a player's collection power and their battle rating will effect how much DEC potentially they can earn. Too low of a collection power will lessen the DEC earned. On top of all this the equation of how DEC is distributed to winners is no longer equated by the square of the player's rating but the cube of the player's rating. As a result the higher the rating the more DEC earns per a win.

What is DEC Reward Pool?

For those who are not aware of the terminologies in the game when a player wins a ranked battle they automatically win a certain amount of DEC. That amount of DEC comes from the present time DEC reward pool. By default there is 1 million DEC distributed into the pool daily. If DEC price increases above $0.001 the pool will distribute additional DEC in proportion to the increase in DEC price from $0.001.

How Much Can I Earn From DEC Reward Pool?

There are multiple factors that effects how much DEC can be won per battle win. Those factors are (directly from doc.splinterlands.com):

Current League of play - The greater your League, the greater your earnings

Total number of players battling - When fewer players are battling, your share of rewards is greater.

DEC Capture Rate - maximum DEC can be earned with a capture rate of 100%.

Win Streak - When in a win streak, a 5% DEC bonus is awarded.

Use of Gold Foil Cards - Each Gold Foil card earns a 10% bonus.

Use of Alpha/Promo cards - Use of each Alpha/Promo card earns a 10% bonus.

Guild bonus - Depending on the level of your Guild's Quest Lodge, you can earn a bonus of up to 20%.

In regards to DEC Capture Rate the energy draw down per a battle is 1%. While the energy bar will take 24 hours to recover 25% which makes it the most efficient for a player is to play at minimum 25 matches within a 24 hour span.

A sample of the current amount of DEC up for grabs in the pool is shown here. Link below:

Current DEC Distribution Reward Pool

This is a cool link I use to determine when best to play Splinters to earn more DEC rewards. When the number is closer to 12 million I tend to get low DEC rewards per win. While when it is 14 million and above I tend to get higher DEC rewards per win. Taken this into consideration players can determine what better times to play during a 24 hour time span to best obtain the most DEC per win.

Conclusions

I think its a great idea Splinterlands developers are trying to fend off rewards farming. This will make rewards distribution be fair as it should be. For instance players who invested a lot in the game should be playing at higher levels in turn earn more DEC per win. While players who have little to no investments in Splinterlands should be limited on how much they can potentially win due to the lack of buy in.

The increase of the reward pool is designed to bring the DEC to it's intended parity by creating more or less DEC every day. But the SPS system is so popular, that DEC keeps the 12x price despite the inflation mechanism.

So cool!

While I applaud the team for the work they are doing to encourage players to commit more to this game, I fear the bots are always 1 step ahead. While just playing in Bronze 1 on my mini, I still encounter what seems like bots running around......unless people just like calling themselves SPSNO043, SPSNO050, SPSNO098, GONSPS040 etc

I realize the DEC rewards have decrease even after the aforementioned increase of DEC rewards compare to last season. I guess it's because of the drop in DEC price. I miss the 20+ Dec per match in Silver last season..LOL.

It's a bit sad to see but I understand that they don't just want bots making the bulk of the players. I don't really seeing this as a long term fix but I guess it might push up rental prices since people need that in order to earn.
