Splinterlands - Final Day of Another Season

Today is the last day of the season and on this day many players ramp up in the gameplay in hopes of trying to reach top 50 in their respective leagues. The top 50 in each league earns a chunk of DEC on top all the winnings they have in the season.

Snapshot above is from gold league and top player earns 60,000DEC. Top players in Champion earn up to 200k DEC. To put that into perspective current price of 1 DEC is close to $0.003. This equates to around $600 for the top player in Champion league.

For players like myself who are not that competitive in the top rankings we can still find some entertain near the end of the season. No rewards for this but there is excitement near the end of the season. The rankings for top rewards are aggressively played out even near the final minutes of the season.

The last battles that are accepted in the season is five minutes before the season ends. That means if players executed their matches prior to five minutes before end of season but do not get their formations completed before five minutes to end of season the match is thrown out.

This has lead to many playing different strategies toward how to play toward the end of the season.

Last season in Champion league top players shown in snapshot above. How this all played out was in itself an entertainment. This is because some players did not play near the end while others played up to the time limit making the rankings fluctuate quite a bit.

The changes in ranks happens every season near the end. As one can notice the points differentiating the top players are less than 100. One win or loss can spell disastrous results for final rankings. This has lead to many planning their strategies toward playing the game near the final minutes of the season.

Some players play all the way to the end and if they lose at the wrong time they can fall of the ranks a few spots ending with less DEC rewards. While other times players sit still waiting for end of season to come either get lucky and see opponents' ahead of them lose enough rank points to fall behind making the players that wait near end of season to rise in rank and take more DEC prizes. It could all work out the other way too where players not playing watch as players ranked below win more and sneak ahead in ranks.

Conclusions

Whether active player or observer near the end of the season it is always entertaining. I am the latter ever since I learned that the leaderboard list in game updates instantaneously. Watching how the players rank and their strategies in playing near the end of the season is always exciting.
