Splinterlands - First 24 Hours into Chaos General Sales

avatar

Technically we are in the second day of the third pre-sale of Chaos Legion packs. In this sale there is a total of 12 million packs up for grabs at $4 each without any vouchers.

image.png

As it stands nearly 6.6 million packs have sold and airdrop #7 will come soon enough. Meanwhile I am wondering how many of the new packs purchased has players opened and how many are selling on the open market?

image.png

As it stands if no cards were ever burned and ever merged for leveling up the total amount of cards in circulation is close to 55.5 million. With all the burned and merged cards combined the actual amount of cards in circulation currently stands at around 18.77 million. Nearly half the amount was added in the past three months. In the beginning of Oct 2021 there were about 10 million and where it stands now at 18.77 million.

Chaos Number of Cards

Chart above with the small pick line on the far right illustrating current Chaos Legions cards in circulation, which is around 5.25 million. In a matter of the last 48 hours it almost doubled. While Chaos reward cards continue to be distributed daily in a steady rate where it has now surpassed over 10 million.

Why am I concentrated on these number? The more cards in circulation the more likely cards will be offered on the open market. Let see if that is the case?

Cards On The Market

image.png

In the past 24 hours the $USD volume traded remains steady at a little over $200k. The average daily volume of $USD is around that mark as chart below from peakmonsters.com shows.

image.png

Worth to mention the initial $USD peak in late Dec of 2021 and yesterday were dates around Chaos pre-sales 1 and 3 respectively. It will be interesting how many cards will be sold in the market as more cards continue to be added into the circulation. For now it appears the amount of cards is tempering downward similar to $USD spent.

Conclusions

Readers of my Splinterlands posts would know I have been planning to purchase Chaos cards through the market rather than in packs. My hope is more Chaos cards will go on market while the price of these cards will drop since there are more sellers. I can be wrong and there could potentially be no increase in cards being offered in the markets and in turn keeping individual card prices elevated.

I will end this post with my current conclusion as to how the first couple of days of Chaos general sales have effected the prices of cards on the open market.

image.png

Chart above are cards based on price above burn rate. This is DEC cost to buy over DEC burn rate. The lowest of the low is currently 1.7 and is a Chaos rewards card. That means the lowest cost of a card in the game currently is a Chaos rewards Gargoya Devil and is priced 70% higher than its actual card value. I am not even taking into consideration supply and demand as where some cards although same rarity have higher demand and hence higher multiple than the DEC burn rate. Bottom line cards did not get cheaper and in fact has rise a bit since DEC price to $USD has continue to fall.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

Good morning friend. Excellent post a diretly upvoted. Just one question, did you buy packs for the airdrops or you go straight away for cards. In second case, which splinters are your best and which ranking do u plan to play?
By the way I am also creating content, any help would be very welcome! https://www.splintertalk.io/@beffeater/best-way-to-learn-learn

I went straight into buying cards. I avoided packs so I would not have to sell ones I didn’t want and buy ones I needed. Seemed like more work that way.

I haven't seen many provide as clear a plan for purchasing cards instead of packs (airdrops is easy to understand as a goal), so I like that you've included broader metrics for Splinterlands' economics. Best of luck as you start hunting for singles!

There definitely is a huge benefit getting an air drop card that I forgot to mention. I went with cards directly from the market because I thought it would be easier to collect the ones I need then opening packs.

I think there's some truth to the idea of buying just the individual cards you intend to use being cheaper. This is doubly so with the overall crypto market workin' its way through a correction or to.

I might have to keep tabs on a few cards to see if they come down into my price range :P
