Splinterlands - Is The Game Losing Its Mojo?

image.png

Tokens associated to Splinterlands has been riding on a down trend for a few days now. This includes DEC, SPS, and card packs. Withe the price dropping I wonder if the demand in the game is also falling? This is a good question to ask as I am one of many who are heavily investing in the game.

Daily Active Users

image.png

The amount of activity for that last two months has been a steady rate of active daily users. With almost 400k users on a daily basis. As of now dapper.com has Splinterlands the most active dapp.

image.png

Currently Nearly 1.5 million Chaos Packs

image.png

With almost 1.5 million new Chaos packs in circulation nearly 1.1 million have already been opened. It goes to show the demand for Splinterlands cards are still very very high. Compare it to previous series Chaos pack openings already surpassed Alpha and Beta series just in the month of December. In fact the first day of Chaos packs opening up to now is still not even a month in and over a million packs already opened. Insane.

Marketcap

image.png

There maybe a decline in total market cap of all current in circulation Splinterlands cards, but the cards increasing in supply may have something to do with the price drop.

image.png

That is to say the Chaos rewards and booster packs have added a significant supply of cards making the overall market to appear to be lower in evaluation as players are trying to sell off cards they do not want at lower prices in hopes of buying cards they do want. This will not last forever as there are limited reward cards and Chaos booster packs.

image.png

Nearly 20% of the reward cards have already been distributed while over nearly 10% of all Chaos booster packs ever to be printed have been sold. Where the Chaos packs are maxed at 15 million packs.

Conclusions

What we are experiencing now in asset prices is likely a digestion and consolidation from all time highs. It remains to be seen if in fact assets in Splinterlands can go deeper in the red. Instead when looking at the activity and demand for its assets it is clear that they are stronger than ever. If I were to say a year from now assets prices would be higher than where they are today it would not be a stretch.

Until next time thanks for reading!!!

I haven't played since a few days after chaos. I need some battle tutorials for winning lineups. That's how I learned before

This is exactly how I feel also, although I have played a tad it doesn't feel like I understand anything still so guides are a must 😅

When I started to play just before the sps airdrop I was able to look up lineups for almost every mana battle. I want those to come back because it's no fun to lose all the time. I don't play anymore. I'm addicted to alienships lol. It doesn't earn much but it's easy!!!

Literally exactly how I feel, I lost about 10 games in a row the other day and haven't touched it since 😂 this new meta isn't for me right now, hopefully once people other than ourselves figure out the best lineups and make us some guides we'll start making a Splinterlands come back

I'm going to check that out right now too never heard of it before!

it's mindless and addictive like an old space invaders type thing. There are ways to earn residual wax and i'm learning those. I enjoy it. I will come back to splinter when I can figure out the meta lol

And I just started with my first few packs ever.
I'm a slow starter by habit.

With a supply of 15 million packs I would think the market would be over-saturated.

There was one major piece of the puzzle missing - If you look at 24h card sales by volume... it's up 50% from 60 days ago!

The game is experiencing Supply > Demand and that's depressing prices... plus the little hiccup in Crypto prices...

All in all, I'd say we're in a REALLY good spot for accumulation :D

Great work my friend!

Cheers 🍻,

Just wait until 10x more packs get opened in January/February during the general sale. Card prices are going to plummet due to massive oversupply. It will take time to absorb that much new supply, if the game continues being popular and growing at its previous rate. For those that think it will keep growing this fast, buying up cards in February could prove to be very profitable.

This is an excellent analysis and insight to what is going on, and what may be.
Thanks for posting.

The lower prices though actually allow for more people to buy packs. When it was over $20 for a single voucher, no way was I touching that
