Splinterlands- Manticore (Weekly Battle Post)
When I first started playing Splinterlands I earned a Manticore in the first week of playing. I remember this clearly because it was my first rewards epic card in the game. In a matter of days I sold it not realizing its full potential. At the time I was not familiar with the dragon splinter. Since I earned dragon summoner Daria Dragonscale I have changed my mind on Manticore and have my highest level epic monster, at level 4. More often than not when I user Daria I will have Manticore in my formation. the reach and fly abilities at a cost of 4 mana makes the monster very useful. It is an added plus at level 3 and higher that it has the ability thorns to retaliate opposing monsters.
I went with fire splinter since Cerberus with self heal had a low mana of 4 while Manticore as my second monster. To safeguard from magic I put in prismatic energy and finish off with Miner, Imp, and Demon with back end formation attacks. As like many other fire formations the goal is to attack quick and hard was my objective in setting up my formation.
My opponent leads of with Chain Golem and uses fire splinter. Besides their mistake in putting Grumpy Dwarf in 4th position while it had reach ability the remaining formation is reasonable. Ettin Spearman and Imp finished of their formation with range attack similar to what I had planned for rear of formation.
The Battle
The rule sets are reverse speed and even mana cards only. The mana limit is 28 so I decided to go with Daria Dragonscale. Here are the results.

The Battle Results
The match was back and forth and my Manticore was able to stretch my opponent long enough to have Prismatic Energy be able to withstand the remainder of my opponent's monsters. A close win. Manitcore's thorn ability was very useful near its end of life as when it had zero health it was able to retaliate and take out his attacker. If interested here is the match link..
