Splinterlands - Reward Card - Naga Assassin

!Its been two weeks since the new reward cards has come out and since then I have encounter the annoying Naga Assassin. Annoying is an understatement as the monster is very difficult to knock out.

At first glance the character appears like any other monster. With a meager health of 2 and a starting range of 1 this monster does not look that deadly. However its low mana count and speed has it utilized more often than not. Furthermore its ability, new to Splinterlands, Backfire has something to do with why it is so annoying.

Speed Trumps All?

Often when we look at stats the first stand out would be likely its attack power. Naga Assassin on the other hand stands out due to its speed.

By default at level 1 Naga has a speed of 5 and it moves to 6 at level 5. The only other cards that can rival the speed of Naga are those in the fire splinter such as Serpentine Spy and Exploding Dwarf. If we focus on speed we realize Naga is pretty much a defense monster due to its backfire.

Naga will be able to attack first with its quick speed more likely than not. In addition with the higher speed the probability to avoiding attacks increases. The backfire ability comes in very handy when opponent's monsters attacks are missed on Naga.

With the lead in attack Naga can potentially knock out opponent even before they can do damage against you. On top of all these benefits Naga at max level can accelerate all its friendly monsters with swiftness.

Backfire

The ability is new to the game and introduced with these most recent reward cards. The ability stands out as a passive aggressive attack. It waits for its opponents to come and attack it and get a miss only to be attacked back for missing. With the higher speed count Naga has better odds of making opponents miss.

Conclusions

Recently the rare reward card is in the range of $0.50 per bcx. To max it at this price is a meager $60 relatively speaking. We see plenty of rare cards at max go for triple digits. Naga Assassin is in one of the strongest splinters in that of Dragon.
This also means Naga can potentially integrate with any other splinter as we all know Dragon can be mixed with any other one splinter during battle. Imagine applying fire splinter with Naga in its formation?

Naga low mana count is ideal for multiple occasions. At max its health is up to 5 make it it much more self sustainable from bigger attacks. Imagine already what this card can do in one's lineup when set in the middle to back end of formation. A true contender lying in the wait and ready for its opponent to trip and fall.
