Splinterlands - SPS Validator Nodes Is It Worth It?

I am now likely the 500th blogger writing about the SPS nodes but I put in some thoughts of my own in it so hope it brings a different perspective to what I see.

Limited 60,000 Nodes

Lets get straight to it as there will only ever be 60,000 of these nodes ever created. For those who remember the land sale they will know full well the first 2,000 sales expected to start tomorrow will go out fast. Question then is will it crash the website just like the land presale?

As the sales will automatically move through tranches once the current one has all quantities sold it can be potentially a quick sale out. My thought is since there is no limitation on how many licenses one person can own and they stack in earned rewards it can be safe to sale those with deep pockets will be willing to spend.

Vouchers

The vouchers seemly have some value now as they are being bought up at nearly 4 Hive each. To see this when in late April it was trading for under 0.8 Hive each. More than 500% ROI for those who bought the bottom.

For vouchers there remains to be a demand for them until all nodes are sold. That is because the vouchers will provide a discount for all tranches of sales after the presale. Each voucher discounts 0.1% of the total cost of the node and investor can use as much as 500 vouchers making a max of 50% discount.

Since vouchers are earned daily for staking SPS in the long run vouchers supply will grow, but for now demand will be high enough to push prices higher. Whether or not it is sustainable we have to realize after selling all the nodes the vouchers have no other use. It will require Splinterlands developers to make up other ways to spend vouchers.

Node ROI?

Holding one node allows the investor to split a share of 3,750,000 SPS distributed to all node validators per a month. Assuming SPS is around $0.10 and remains that way for a year, then all validators will split $375k among themselves. The rewards distribution depends on how many licenses are active. The more licenses the less yields to each license holder.

Therefore the less validators go on line the bigger the piece of pie is for all participating nodes. Beyond the month yield there is also the "buy in" price. As each tranche going forward there is more $ needed for purchase. All 60k licenses are the same function no matter which tranche investor is buying. So it benefits ROI for those who are able to buy a license as early as possible. The buy in cost will continue to rise to the point it costs as high as $40k.

Conclusions

In less than a day the nodes will go on sale. My hunch the presale will go off with a bang as they get sold out instantly. Meanwhile it is best interest for each of us to look ahead at next tranches to see if those are meaningful investments. In my opinion its never too late to get in on a node but the sooner you can get your hands on one the better ROI rates there are.
