Splinterlands - Wild and Modern (My Initial Review)
A lot of players have been waiting for this update for a while and when Splinterlands announced it would be incorporated I have been trying to focus on building my Chao Legions collection.
In the Modern format Untamed and Chao Legions cards would benefit the most and I thought after hearing the news I would concentrate on accumulating those cards. That was more than a month ago and now time has come where the game play is here.
I having added most of the newest reward cards I would at least have some competitiveness in Modern format. However I have yet to get higher than level 1 Chaos summoners. On the flip side I have most of the Untamed rare summoners at max level to play.
Without the sufficient amount to invest in a set of cards I have to lean toward Wild format for now where all cards are accepted. I have over the past couple of years earn majority of my cards in the older series. I had heavily invested in Alphas so it helps to be able to use those cards in matches.
Conclusions
As of now this latest season the battles can be picked between Modern and Wild. I have decided to go with Wild as most of my cards can only be used in Wild format. At first I struggled and was losing more than winning. Now I have a better feel on the battles and hopefully can adjust accordingly.
For now even with the new updated formats I am sticking with the Wild format or in other words remain the same in game play as before the breakout on Splinters. I do not see much of any difference in game play within the Wild format. Instead I see only winning a little more DEC in matches and all else equal from prior seasons.
I will play further seasons in wild in hopes to continue adding Chao cards and building my collection in preparation for Modern format.

while playing the modern rank today, i realized i was getting more dec than usual, like 80 dec per win unlike before that it used to be 27 dec, so seems many people are playing wild and then the pool of dec in modern not being taken by many... would be promoting your post on listnerd...

I want to be playing modern, however every battle I am fighting is my level 2 summoners vs level 4 summoners. Thus I am playing several matches in the Wild format waiting for the better players to move up out of my way. Wild format battles seem to be mostly against level 2 summoners even at Gold 3.

I'm having the same experience. My guess is the bots are still playing in Wild. Once they code in the option to play in modern it should even out more.
Yes I do like the payouts in Modern. I just had trouble winning any of them.

I was facing a similar issue when fighting in Splinterlands. I am losing a lot more because my chaos legion deck isn't leveled up enough. At the same time, wild doesn't seem worth it because I don't get enough cards added as a boost by doing so.

I played a few times in modern. But almost all the summoners are high, so I moved to wild. It's easier here although the DEC for a win is much lower. At least I have more card to choose !
That is good to know. I don't have enough of the Chaos cards to play modern. The more DEC is tempting but will have to wait as I keep adding to my collection.
it seems the choice to keep playing in the Wild is getting bigger after reading this post because I also don't see a difference in the daily focus gain.
