Share your battle - How to beat Immortalis the King :)

Hiya Splinterlanders :)

You should already know that everything related to strategy/tactics is the topic I like the most. So my face immediately felt happy when I saw the Share Your Battle theme in Social Media Challenge. Let's not waste more time and get straight into the battle. This time I will try to analyze my thinking process and the setup later.

For the battle I chose quite an interesting match from Silver Wild Invitational. I have noted the most of the battles from that specific tournament were worth presenting, so I hope I will have more time soon to do some streams :). Let's check both setups.

image.png

The rulesets are quite specific, with no healing, or reverse speed. I have two setups in mind, and I tried to go with some mix of damage with anti-immortalis low mana range team.
The opponent had a very solid Immortalis team, with a lot of Silence abilities. My magic monsters seem like having a tough time here. Let's see the battle and do more analysis later.

Round 2, what could I say :) our tank is too solid. With divine shield as a ruleset, our magic monster could survive returned damage from the Failed summoner and we managed to kill it this round.

Round 3, Onyx Sentinel is just too strong for the enemy team. Thadius with the magic debuff, and luckily no poison from Doctor Blight for the second round in a row. And our low mana range team still did a nice amount of damage.

image.png

Round 4, another round without poison = no damage to our monsters. I wonder what could happen when we got poison in the first round. We got another kill, this time we got rid of annoying Queen Mycelia with Protect. Now it should be much faster :)

image.png

Round 5, finally Dr. Blight applied poison :), but it's just too late. He got even stunned that round, this is almost the end :)

image.png

Final Blow - Round 5 - we have lost 2 HP from poison in the whole battle. Let's check our approach and setup in the battle analysis section .

We had a lot of luck with that setup, it was a total counter to the enemy team. My thinking process in that case was some assumption that the opponent would use Immortalis. 26 mana is maybe not the best amount for 6 mana summoner, but everyone knows how strong Immortalis could be :).

Our magic monsters seem useless, but if you watched the battle carefully you will see that it was the opposite. There were the slowest from our side and most of the attacks had some function. Firstly, they negate the divine shield, before our range unit does real damage. Secondly, dispel and stun is applied even without a no-damage hit. So a few times it was useful in this battle. Of course, the MVP of the battle was Onyx Sentinel, it stopped almost all attacks. I was wondering what would be the final result with poisoning in the first round :).

I hope we can see more similar themes around the Social Media Challenge. I think we need more engagement topics around those articles to get more attention. For me, the strategic approach is something I cannot wait to have the opportunity to talk about in any limited format. I know, that recently nobody even mentioned this anymore, but I still have hope :). And you? :D

I hope you like this kind of report, battle, and strategy presentation. More strategy analysis, discussion, and prediction games you can find on my Wednesday Twitch Channel stream. There will be schedule soon :)

If you have any comments, please do not hesitate. Do you think I could improve anything just tell me :)
