Strategy Corner #46- Aimless Ruleset - Jacek or not to Jacek
Hiya Splinterlanders :)
Happy New Years Splinterlanders, I hope we will have a lot of fun in our Game in this 2024. More game mode, more tournaments, more features :). That's my wishes for all of us :).
Today we got another quite interesting ruleset: Aimless, let's check the definition.
Description:
All units have the Scattershot ability.
Scattershot can target Camouflaged units.
Firstly, the description of the ruleset in the game is not perfect, sometimes you get just general information which does not give you all the information you need. The best way to read the full description as above from the game documentation at least once. You can check all here.
I seriously encourage you guys to check this site, even more advanced players could find something interesting there.
One of the important thing regarding scattershot is that effect only ranged and magic type attack monsters. Melee monsters still attack depending on their target abilities like sneak opportunity etc. That's why one of my main strategies for that kind of battle is concentrating on the melee team. Let's see what it look like in practice.
Let's check our battle:
Today's battle is a ladder fight in Gold League. It is always more challenging because my cards are usually silver level.
My solution for this is trying to minimize all random targets, so my main option is a melee team, or if I need to rely on luck I would choose summoners that already got scattershot as an ability - Jacek. My team with Possibilus relies on melee damage here, with some boost from Riverdale.
The opponent had a similar idea, but with Kelya with the addition of some more protection with Djinn Oshanus and Armor Repair.
Round 2, opponents lost quite a bunch of monsters already, the trample ability was devastating. Usually, Kelya is a better summoner with armor protection, but because of Noa chances now are more equal. It was lucky that Oshanus had Force Field and that 5 damage was reduced to 1.
Round 3, this time our team got some casualties, Coastal Sentry was resurrected, so the opponent had to waste some additional time to kill it again. We got another kill with trample damage to another unit. it's seems the next round could be the last.
Final Blow - Round 4 - I was wrong, we needed one more round but finally we got it. We have lost just one unit :).
As I mentioned above, Keyla was usually a much better choice, where you expect a heavy physical/melee team. Of course with the ruleset without armor situation is totally different, but it was not the case here. Noe change a lot, and now Possibilus can win even with higher level cards.
I think the failure analysis is necessary to get better in any aspect of life. The same is true in any game, Spliinterlands in particular, because you just cannot win everything here.
Before I used a very useful tool - Splintertools, which allowed me to check different setups and get a better understanding of what was going on on the battlefield. Unfortunately, recently the tool is not available, devs behind it just abandoned the project. I hope something similar could be implemented in the core game someday.
I hope you like this kind of report, battle, and strategy presentation. More strategy analysis, discussion, and prediction games you can find on my Wednesday Twitch Channel stream. There will be schedule soon :)
If you have any comments, please do not hesitate. Do you think I could improve anything just tell me :)

We continue our game from the previous week, today new battle, new card to win :).
I come up with some ideas, I hope you will like them and participate. Every week I will publish one battle, and your goal is to point out the first victim of the battle and who will be the winner. This game is exactly the same as my prediction game which I run on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. I know that not everyone can attend the stream, so I hope you will still have fun in that way. More about the rules can be read here.
Among all participants who get the correct answer, I will randomly (probably on my Wednesday stream) choose one winner.
The prize of the blog prediction game for the lucky winner will be the epic card:
Here we got the battle:
Game instruction:
Try to point out which monster will die first on the battlefield and who wins the battle
- t - top player
- b - bottom player
- number - order counting from the first position
Examples:
t2b = monster on the second position of top player dies first, the bottom player wins
b6t = monster on the sixth position of bottom player dies first, the top player wins
t3t = monster on the third position of top player dies first, the top player wins
