Lessons from a Splinterlands game loss: When defeat is the beginning of a new experience
Today I played a great match in Splinterlands Frontier Ranked mode. There will be wins and losses in the game, but today's match was a special learning opportunity for me. Although I was a little upset at first when I saw "DEFEAT" written in red on the screen, I thought deeply and realized that this loss taught me to be strategic.

The excitement was high before the match started. The mana cap was 68 Mana, which is not usually available. With so much mana, there was an opportunity to take down big and powerful monsters. The rules were 'standard', meaning there were no special rules.

I chose my favorite Water Splinter (Water Deck). I relied on the summoner Kelya Frendul, who gives everyone on the team +1 Armor and +1 Speed. My plan was to defeat the opponent by strengthening the defense with armor.

But the opponent, YOLITA, was very cunning. She entered the field with Earth Splinter. At the beginning of the battle, I realized that my plan was wrong.
- Opponent: Earth deck and Summoner used Obsidian (possibly), which increases magic attack.
- My weakness: According to the rules of Splinterlands, Magic Attack penetrates armor and directly hits health. As a result, the extra armor given by my 'Kelya Frendul' was of no use.

My powerful cards on the battlefield were helpless in front of the opponent's magic attack. The combination of their healers and magic monsters shattered my defense line. It was clear by the third round that this match was out of my hands.
What I learned (The Lesson)
Even though I lost 20 rating points at the end of the day, I learned 3 important lessons from this match:
- Analyzing the opponent: I should have looked at the opponent's "Recently Played" section before the match started. The picture shows that the opponent was already playing more Earth decks. I should have prepared accordingly.
- Armor vs. Magic: When the opponent uses Earth decks or magic attacks, it is foolish to rely on armor or shields. Then you should use cards that have the "Void" ability (which reduces magic damage).
- Mana Management: I could have used better combinations in a 68 mana match. In a high mana match, you should not only rely on tanks, but also pay attention to the backline supports.
I am not disappointed because I lost a match. Splinterlands is a game where every loss prepares you for the next win. I will correct today's mistakes and come to the field with a stronger strategy in the next match.
Lose, learn, and win—that's the spirit of a true gamer!
