From Darkness to Holiness

It has been several centuries since Gorgy has been living in the Holy Land of Light as a refugee. It was a really special day for the Gargoya Scrapper who had lived in the darkness for the first part of his life. He grew tired and sick of the things they do and found solace in the Holy Land of Light. At first, he was reluctant because he thought that he would face divine judgment when he came to the promised land to repent, but he was accepted into the community with open arms.

Today was a very special day for Gorgy because it was his induction into the holy knights. The group of warriors was tasked to protect and serve the people of the Holy Land of Light. He will finally receive his blessing and his gift of life. The gift of Life is given to the warriors in the Holy Knights that will amplify their powers and will bestow them with new abilities that they could use in combat.

He was very excited and walked towards the high temple with spring on his every step. The ceremony started after a while and Gorgy was lined up with several others to receive their Gift of Life. One after the other, they received their gifts and they tried them out in front of the public just to get the feel of it. The ceremony was solemn and everyone was in a high mood.

Finally, Gorgy's turn came and he walked gracefully and slowly towards the altar. He fell on his knees as he reached the front and as the high priest placed his hand on Gorgy's head a commotion broke out from the crowd. People ran and stuff exploded here and there.

"This is funny. A child of darkness receiving a Gift of Life." one of the intruders said.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Gorgy said.

"Nothing much. We just wanted to see how a lowly Gargoya Scrapper could be a Holy Knight." their leader replied. "Surely, you're good at fighting. Let's see what you can do."

The intruders attacked. Gorgy and the newly inducted Holy Knights defended.

"This is a great chance to show off our new Gifts." one of them said.

"But I haven't received mine yet," Gorgy complained.

"Don't you worry son. You may not have the Gift of Life but you already have the Gift of Light within you. You are ready." the high priest said.

The encouragement sounded superficial but to Gorgy, they sounded like magic words that made him eager to prove himself.

"Very well. This will be good practice for you youngsters." General Sloan stepped forward with his hands behind his back. He is the commander of the Holy Knights.

"Let me see what you've got. Here, I'll give you an extra blessing just to be sure."

With the group's new abilities and blessings, it just took them a little while to fight off the group of mages that came to crash their holy ceremony. The Holy Knights emerged victorious and the mages were captured and thrown away into the abyss.

That ends my little narrative for the Share Your Battle challenge.

The Lineup

For this particular challenge, the Gargoya Scrapper was required to be used and that means that I should be using Life Splinter Monsters.

I chose General Sloan as the summoner because I think that he fits the strategy I had in mind. I wanted to focus on the ranged attacks because there are several monsters in the Life Splinters that are good at that type of attack.

In the first position, I chose to use the Shieldbearer.

image.png

I think that Shieldbearer is a good tank because of the high armor and life points combination. It also has the Ability taunt that makes itself a target by the enemy monsters.

And that's an ability that the Gargoya Scrapper takes advantage of.

image.png

It's got nothing really special going on for it aside from the low mana cost it has. With just 1 mana point, I could have an extra layer of protection in the front with its 2 HP.

In the third position, the Portal Spinner stirs chaos.

image.png

Following the Gargoya Scrapper in battle, she tries to make herself felt on the battlefield with its Scattershot ability. She hides behind the Gargoya Scrapper while she attacks from everywhere.

In the fourth position, the Pelacor Arbalest snipes.

image.png

Truly an angel that descended from heaven, he has the potential to deal damage with his ability that lets him attack twice in a round. If lady luck smiles upon me, then he could finish one or more monsters from the field.

The Venary Crystalsmith lays low in the fifth post.

image.png

I chose to bring her to the battle because of her healing ability and her ranged attacks. My lineup could benefit from her so much because of her healing ability. The Gargoya Scrapper protects everyone from the back and absorbs the attack from monsters with Opportunity.

In the last position, the Evangelist cries for victory.

image.png

She screams with her Earth-shaking voice and supports everyone with a suppressing attack. Its Snare ability captures the turn of the enemy monster and prevents them from attacking. She does her job very effectively with the help of the Gargoya Scrapper manning the front with the Shieldbearer.

The battle looks like this:

Conclusion

My strategy worked fine for this particular battle because even though the opponent uses magic attack, they were held back by the Shieldbearer and the Gargoya Scrapper. My attackers had a field day because they could deal damage freely. I don't think that I would change my lineup if I was given the same circumstance. Although, it would be a great advantage if there was a ranged-attacker that could be placed in front.

I'm not overly crazy about the Gargoya Scrapper, but it's a good monster to use when you have a scrap of mana left, get it?
