How much should you donate to your guild?

Asking for money is always a stick subject. However, donating to your guild is the only way to help it grow. Also the guild leader had to put up 10,000 DEC to start the guild how does he recoup that investment?

Which leads to the question: How much should you donate to the guild?

Now the Merchants Guild is a little different in that we ask for members to hold GLD token rather than giving to buildings directly but other than that I think my thoughts hold true for most guilds.

First: Donate your Guild Bonus

Your guild gives you a direct boost to your winnings. In our guild it is only 1% but still it all adds up. As guild rank goes up that bonus goes up considerably (I think 20% max). Giving that bonus DEC to your guild just seems like the right thing to do.

Second: Donate a portion of your Brawl Rewards

If your guild has an arena and you battle in it you get merit points. Those merit points will get your Gladius packs. At worst those packs will have 4 common (20 DEC) and 1 rare (20 DEC) worth of cards. 40DEC/pack and 2000 merits/pack means please donate 1 DEC for every 50 merit points received

You'll eventually get epic, legendary or gold cards to boost your income but your guild gave you the chance for that and bigger guild means more merit points and better rewards!

Third: Donate your time, skills and curation power

Take the time to chat in the guild to make it friendly. Take the time to post about the game in Splintertalk and invite your guildmates to upvote and post comments. Take the time to upvote your guildmates posts. Curation makes your guildmates feel good about a liked post. It gives your guildmates SPT/HIVE to spend and give you coin for doing it. Why would you not help both yourself and your guild?

That does mean that not everyone in the guild will donate the same amount! Guildmates in higher ranked guilds or higher ranked play will make more DEC and should donate more. Guildmates who participate in battles more often should donate more to the guild.

However, even brand new guildmates who make almost nothing should donate a DEC or two to show appreciation. If they aren't even earning DEC in Bronze II or III then post in Splintertalk! Spend the time to curate--even if your vote isn't worth anything yet. Chat in the guild and ask questions.

Like my guildmate Winston. Brand new but posts here, posts in chat, asks questions and has donated 1 DEC from his humble winnings. There may be higher ranked players in the guild but I'd rather have a bunch of guys like Winston who are working hard to make himself and the guild better every day.

Happy hunting
and
Thanks for reading

Side note: Really love players like @Pewsplosions who donate, post, curate, and helpout. :)

Thanks for the shout out! I typically sell my SPS airdrop and use a portion of that to buy some GLD every day. Another easy way to donate since everyone gets a little something from that. At least until the airdrop ends.

The GLD collected is used to purchase SPS which has a voucher drop everyday. The SPS gets held and the voucher sold to purchase buildings for the guild (or more SPS to build up the pot a little bit)

As person that has helped build a number of Guild's in the past and am currently co-leader of a Guild, I concur with everything in this post.

Guild Leaders should not have to beg members for donations. My personal opinion is that if one does not donate to the Guild, they are not a team player. Our Guild (the HIVE Revolution) does not charge dues of any kind and asks for nothing. Everything you say above should be common sense. Sadly, it is not.
