My strategy for my 2nd season end in Splinterlands

If you are curious what went down for my first season, you can refer to the below posts:

As usual, I wanted to document down my strategy for the end of the season, before and after season end. It will definitely serve as good learning and reflective experience for myself post-season, and for future seasons.

Strategy for my 2nd season end in Splinterlands

Following my reflection post-Season 1, I had initially planned to stick in Bronze II till the end of the season. It will be the most cost-effective approach for my current situation.

However, I was very tempted to try for Silver III (little bit of my pride was urging me on) since I finished in Bronze I last season. The competitive nature in me made me want to strive for greater heights. And Silver III was the higher goal.

So I was stuck in a dilemma.

Play it safe in Bronze II or risk it for Silver III? I had enough points for Silver III (Rating at 1189).

I went to the Splintercards website to assess if the pros of Silver III could outweigh the potential cons.

50% Card, 25% Potion and 25% Dec. Seems like a decent chance.

I then calculated the amount of DEC I would need to spend to rent my way to 15k CP: It would probably take around 220-240 DEC.

Silver III: 12 Chests
Bronze II: 7 Chests

An additional 5 chests will fetch around 182.5 DEC (on average) using 36.5 DEC of potential reward per reward chest. And if I farm Silver III with daily quest etc, I might offset the cost.

After the analysis, I decided to rent to Silver III for the end of season. This is in hope that I can get some decent rarity cards for potential profits. If anything else, it would be a fun experiment and some feelings of achievement.

This decision came rather late as I thought I could have gotten better rental rates if I had been clear with this strategy right from the very start and started renting at the 24h mark (before players amend their rental prices), it would have allowed me to drive a bargain for rental prices. This would be something I would need to take note of for my third season.

Auto Rental Bids using Peakmonsters

Renting card by card would have been too tedious and would have consumed a significant amount of resource credits (especially considering my resource credits have mostly been saved for flipping purposes). Therefore I looked up auto rental bids and managed to rent up to 15k CP at Peakmonsters

I'm not sure if it is just me but the auto rental bids didn't allow for setting the number of days (so I had some cards rented for 1 day and some for 2 days). I tried to explore but it seemed like you can only set the day if you auto bid for certain cards. If anyone can kindly provide any advice on this, I would greatly appreciate.

But either way, I have to remind myself to cancel the rental as soon as the season ends before they start charging me for a second day.

Advancement into Silver III

For those curious, the transition from Bronze to Silver requires for you to make a decision whether to advance or stay in Bronze to compete in different leaderboards.

I will advance to Silver III as soon as my daily quest recharges.

Concluding remarks

Hopefully the decision to rent to Silver III instead of Bronze II will be a profitable one. At the very minimum, it is a fun experience for me. All the different experiences that I have in Splinterlands opens up my mindset and provides different perspectives.

I am looking forward to sharing more of my experiences and some of my other strategies (be it battling or investing or flipping) though I am being very careful spending my resource credits.

I strongly believe that

A lesson learned is a lesson worth sharing

Wishing everyone good luck for the season end and everyone will get the cards that they desire :)
