Supporting Splinterlands

If you have not heard already Splinterlands has once again downsized its team. And the latest town hall paints a grim picture of Splinterlands future, but it also offers hope.

Firstly if you have not watched it you should watch this @splinterlands town hall here

THE BAD NEWS

Let’s start with the bad @Yabapmatt has admitted that Splinterlands only has about 6 months of runway at the moment (enough money to keep the game running).
Splinterlands needs an influx of money coming in or things could get very hard to keep the game running or Splinterlands could even close down. This is of course is the worst case scenario, one which we all don’t want to see happen.

Players have been leaving the game or at least dumping cards on the market for awhile now and I feel for the immediate future this will not change. With both the bear market and world financial issues taking its toll. Even with just day to day life where I live people are complaining about the rising cost of living. From what I understand this is not just an issue where I live but other places in the world are facing this issue also.

What happens if Splinterlands closes down? The game would likely disappear, it could potentially get sold if that’s what the owners want to do, but most likely you will end up with a heap of NFT’s worth nothing. I know this is a grim picture, but that is the reality that we face. It is in the best interest of those owning Splinterlands NFT’s that this does not happen.

THE GOOD NEWS

With all that bad news I am sure you are thinking “OMG I should be selling while I still have time!” And while this is something you could do it will not help Splinterlands and you may not sell your NFTs even though you have them up for sale.
So what is the alternative?

Buying packs is the best alternative I can see. Just buy as many packs as you feel comfortable with. Never ever invest/spend more than you can afford.

Rift watchers packs are still available for sale and we will have Rebellion presale by the end of October if all goes well.

The more support we can give Splinterlands the more runway they can build up and those selling now will be selling while the market is down. Those of us that still believe in Splinterlands or just want to protect our investment will be rewarded for our loyalty if all goes to plan.

The Hive and Splinterlands communities are the strongest I have seen and have helped Splinterlands and hive to survive through the crypto winter. I believe that they will rise to the occasion and help support Splinterlands now, to keep it running.

Splinterlands is not dead in the water and is still bring out content. Land is on the verge of being released and as I have already said Rebellion is about to get released also. This paints a positive picture in my mind that Splinterlands can still recover.

Also a change in leadership could be just what was needed. I feel @yabapmatt painted a realistic picture of the current situation and tried to reassure the community without offering false hope. Time will tell but from the town hall I left with a felling positive feeling due to his realistic overview of the situation.

CONCLUSION

Splinterlands is in a bad position but it is recoverable and there is hope. The best we can do to protect our investment at this time is to buy packs and help keep Splinterlands doors open.

Splinterlands is lucky to have a great community and I am sure that we can get through this together.

Stay strong and let’s show Splinterlands what a great community we have.

Have a great day everyone!

The lesson from the Bear is that a Company should not feel bad to sell more products for profit.

When there is a Bull, then the crypto rally means there are sufficient returns in the economy.

There is no shame in doing a revenue raising drive via Creative products.
In fact, it could even be done with mirth - say like "I Want You" Praetoria recruitment bonds OR other NFTs of Fun.

Or exclusive community fund raising.

Not sure of the volumes required but those in the marketing biz would knowhow to work it.

That is great to hear. The more the community pulls together to help keep this game the best game on blockchain the easier it is on everyone.
Yes backing from whales is great and they do bring a lot of money in but every little bit counts and even people like myself that don't have a lot of money can make a difference even if we only buy a pack or two if that's all that we can afford.
Thanks for reading my post and commenting.
Have a great day!

Sad news but hopeful for their future.
Lowering costs during the bear is a must.
Matt knows what he's doing and I believe it will recover over time.

Yes they have done well over the years and I felt like Matt's overview and answers he gave to questions left me with confidence. Prior to watching the town hall I was like how bad is it? tell me that they are not shutting down please.
