Splinterlands Weekly Challenge | Dax Paragon

avatar

It's been a while since my last post. Moving is a nightmare, I'll just leave it at that. In December I had an amibition to post a lot more regularly in the upcoming year, but alas. Well, better late than never. And while I'm starting the year off with a Splinterlands Weekly Challenge, I do intend to post more varied content as well during this year.

But at least, while I haven't been posting I've still been playing. And my guild is still doing quite well in the Tier 3 brawls, and we recently upgraded our Barracks to lvl 6, which allowed us to ban a second card.

On to this weeks' challenge.

Dax Paragon has apparently led a life of sheltered privilege and abundance, and apparently has no interest for anything but himself. What a charmer.

The Lightning Dragons of Draykh-Nahka are the only truly wild Dragons left in the world. They are extremely plentiful, especially for their immense size, thriving on a diet of Pegasus. The rocky land where these Lightning Dragons make their home is known as Dragon’s Roost. [...] When the Chaos Legion turned their eye on Dax, he looked right back and was intrigued. He saw new power that he hadn't yet known.

So this guy is most likely the least likeable character in the whole Splinterverse. I'd even prefer Queen Mycelia over this degenerate. She at least has the excuse of being a fungus...

Ruleset, analysis and battle

Let's see, 38 Mana, Taking Sides, Broken Arrows and Ferocity. The first two are familiar, but the final one is one of the new ones, which gives all monsters the Fury ability which makes all monsters do double damage against monsters with Taunt. I guess we'd better not use any monsters with Taunt then.

Since ranged attack monsters are banned from this battle, it will most likely be very important to protect ourselves from magic attacks (preferably also melee attacks obviously). One of the strongest magic tanks in Modern Format is the Pelacor Conjurer from the Life Splinter, so that's sorted. If we use Lux too boost armor and pull in a monster or two with the armor Repair, we just might be able to keep it alive for a good while. And we can only hope that the opponent will use a magic-heavy team (likely, given the ruleset).

Okay, let the battle submit-timer start.

Team lineup:
  • Summoner: Lux Vega
  • Pos 1: Pelacor Conjurer (lvl 10)
  • Pos 2: Djinn Renova (lvl 6)
  • Pos 3: Time Mage (lvl 8)
  • Pos 4: Dax Paragon (lvl 6)
  • Pos 5: Adelade Brightwingh (lvl 4)
  • Pos 6: High Priest Darrius (lvl 3)
Strategy:
  • Lux provides her typical all-around boost of +1 speed, +1 armor and +1 health.
  • The pacifist Conjurer takes the tank position. It's got Flying, which makes it hard to hit by melee monsters, Magic Reflect will will return-fire any magic attacks back at the enemy, Divine Shield that makes it take no damage the first time it's hit, and then finally Phase, which makes magic attacks have a chance to miss. For only 2 mana, it makes a lot of sense that this monster does not have an attack.
  • Renova with her Triage will heal our rear monsters while Strengthen gives everyone on the team with an additional HP each. Not to mention her whooping 4 magic damage attack.
  • The Time Mage will Slow down the enemy team, while it's Rust ability adds a chance of destroying enemy monsters armor when they're hit by its attack.
  • Dax' Amplify ability makes damage reflections (like given by the Conjurers Magic Reflect ability) deal double damage whenever damage is reflection. He also have Affliction, that may impair enemy healing. Hopefully they'll use a healing tank.
  • Adelade with Flying, Repair, Resurrect, Immunity and Swiftness just feels very appopriate for this team.
  • And finally, good old Darius with his Resurrect (second one on the team) plus Weaken and Blast, to wreak some havoc behind the tank.

Time for battle:

Results / Comment

Even being up against an anti-magic team, our strategy with the Conjurer as the tank worked very well. The battle took a while, but the enemy team was in the end pretty much demolished.

Thanks for reading/watching! Feels good to be back to posting.

I've been following your AI generated NFT's project with interest for a while. You've been able to get some pretty impressive results I think. I find the one I bought particularly satisfying as I've always enjoyed miniatures. Felt like a steal at only 4 HIVE:

And now with the bonus miniature on WAX, I like it a lot! Did not know you also had a WAX collecion.

While we're at it, let me ask for your opinion on something. I've been working on some artwork myself for a while, and I'm really starting to feel like they're getting close to be ready for minting. But I'm still back and forth on where to mint them, WAX or Hive. Maybe I should just do both like you. What's your experience?
