After a short break, I am back again in Splinterlands. This Week's Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! was about the "Back to Basics" ruleset which I found interesting as it's quite easy for a noob to understand amid all abilities that need to take into consideration usually. I was losing on and on and suddenly I got this rulset and I was like, it's show time, and BOOM!

My Lineup & Rulset

REKLAH

Rulset: Back to Basics

Description:

  • Units lose all abilities.
  • Summoner effects are still active.

CARRION SHADE

LIFE SAPPER

CURSED WINDEKU

Summoner: As my summoner I have decided to go with the Reklah, a Rare Death Summoner. As it's a low mana battle I thought the health of the monsters would be something very important. Reklah gives the scope to take away 2 healths from the opponent's two monsters or give a reflection shield to two units. So, I used the negative health on my enemy monsters and made things a little bit easier.

1st Position: As for my first monster, I have chosen Cursed Windeku, It just cost me 6 mana but has 2 melee attacks with three speed and 9 health, a solid one to be my tank.

2nd Position: In the second one, I have placed Life Sapper. A 3 mana card with 1 magic attack, 2 speed, and 2 health. My plan was like, if I extract 2 health initially then my first two monsters would take away more health which should be enough to kill my opponent's monster easily.

3rd Position: At this point I had only 1 mana left, as the abilities were useless in this battle so I was left CARRION SHADE which was offering 2 health, I thought placing this at the end might take one or two attacks from the opponents. I know, melee at the end wasn't a good idea but this was the one available for me to spare at that position at 1 mana cost. Maybe it would be the last one standing and one attack of it might give me victory.

It was a low mana battle, the mana cap was 15 and the ruleset was Back to Basics which ensures the abilities on the cards are useless here. My summoner took 5 mana and the rest of the first two monsters 6 and 3 mana each, leaving me with 1 mana left yet I was hopeful with my first two monsters to stand still till the end. The negative health effect was helpful for me to win over the opponent pretty easily.

When the opponent's tank died on the third round the ranged monster became useless and died instantly, I think this was a poor decision the put the ranged monster in the second position, magic could have been placed, after all, it was the opponent's mindset as I too have placed a melee at the end.

I was lucky and it was an easy win, cheers!
