After a long long long time, I am back in Splinterlands. This Week's Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! drew my attention and thought of starting with this. Seeing this Up Close and Personal rulesets I found this interesting and thought of a few possible strategies, went through my collections and a few battle ideas, and then BOOM!

My Lineup & Rulset

Kelya Frendul

Up Close and Personal
  • Only units with melee attacks can be used.
  • Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks.
  • Units with 2 types of attacks (including melee) can be used.

Hardy Stonefish

Sand Worm

Uraeus

Flying Squid

Serpent Of Eld

Summoner: So due to the Summoners, we both had chosen from the same water element, even the same one, Kelya Frendul, so both of the team's monsters got +1 speed and +1 armour.

1st: So during the beginning of the first round, we both had placed the same monster at the first place, Serpent Of Eld. As only the Melee attacks can be used as per the ruleset I went with this ability the other stats were perfect as well.

2nd: At the second position, I had placed Flying Squid due to its Reach ability which makes it able to attack from the second position as well. Also, the health of this monster is pretty big so my initial thoughts were like this can lead the battle even if my first monster dies.

3rd: In the third position, I placed Uraeus, which cost me only 3 mana and had a reach ability that made it able to attack the last unit of the enemy team. I placed this with a view to break the armour from the last monster if there is and then make another attack on that monster with my next monster.

4th: Here comes the Sand Worm, a high mana monster with a high melee attack with a reach ability. From this position, I plan to attack the last monster once again with the view that the previous monster might have damaged the armour of the enemy monster. So double attack on the last monster, want to take it down.

5th: Took this Hardy Stonefish one as it had armour and an added one, so keeping this at the last might save my team some attacks while putting this to endure them. Guess what, in the first round it sacrificed itself while defending against enemy attacks.

6th: Well, I had another slot left to put a monster but I was out of mana cost and unfortunately, I didn’t have any 0 mana monsters to place there as well, could have placed something there, missed by an inch.

As per my assumptions, I had to lose Hardy Stonefish in the first round, and for that, I could kill the enemy monsters with the strategy I had drawn in my mind. Those worked pretty well. Within the third round, the battle reached a conclusion. It was a pretty easy win. I was lucky to get that easy lineup against me and my plans initially worked perfectly.
