Gold League Battlefield: Rebounding from Despair and Opening an Epic Pack!
Every day brings new thrills in the world of Splinterlands. Especially when you are in Gold League 1 (Gold I), every match is like a final game. A moment of carelessness can knock you out of the rating, while the right move can crown you with victory. Today, I will share with you the entire journey of my gaming session. Where there was a difficult ruleset, the excitement of high mana and finally that magical moment of opening the reward box. Let's take a sip of coffee and watch today's Battlefield story.

When the situation is unfavourable (The Setup)

Friends, as soon as I opened today's game, I saw that my current rating is 3,440. I am sitting at the very top of the Gold League, but the real challenge for me in this situation is to maintain my rank. As soon as I clicked the Battle button, matchmaking began. My opponent was @spin-oz. Looking at his profile, it was clear that the fight would not be easy, because his power and collection were quite interesting. Still, I bravely entered the battlefield.
Ruleset twists and card selection

As soon as the battle screen loaded, I sat up. Because the ruleset was quite strange. Only 36 mana matches, but the modifiers were a concern. "Shades oGreyay"—meaning only Neutral cards could be used. Along with this, there was "Healed Out," which meant that no healing abilities would work.

Playing a match without healing meant having full confidence in your defence line. Since there was no opportunity to use elemental cards, my options were limited. During card selection, I took 2 minutes and 25 seconds to carefully organise my team. I chose Great Bear Druid as my main tank because I thought it would be quite effective for me due to its high health and aarmour I took A'lan Musketeer and Vengeful Monk for backline support. My goal was to inflict physical damage on the opponent. But who knows what the opponent was thinking?
The Battle Begins
The battle begins. My great bear druid stood bravely on the frontline. But before the first round was over, I realised I had made a big mistake. The opponent's card combination and their attack speed were much higher than mine. My tank was slowly weakening due to a lack of healing. I saw my powerful beasts being defeated one by one. The battle continued until round 4, but the end was not saved.

"Defeat" flashed on the screen. I felt a shock in my heart. I lost 20 rating points and dropped to 3,444. However, Splinterlands has taught me not to collapse after a defeat. Because fate may change in the next match.
The comeback of the monsters

With the bitter taste of defeat, I immediately clicked the "battle again" button. This time, I found @insanis1991 as my opponent. And my eyes widened when I saw this ruleset! 89 mana! (89 mana cap). Getting so much mana in Splinterlands means a celebration. With it came "holy protection" (everyone has Divine Shield) and "no pain, no gain.
Seeing 89 mana, I got the opportunity to take out the most powerful and expensive cards in my deck. I spent up to 55 mana on the card selection page in the blink of an eye. My strategy was simple. Since everyone has Divine Shield, no one will die on the first attack. So I took cards that can do multiple attacks and have a lot of health. I arranged my best lineup using a water splinter. I am ready with Coastal Sentry and all the huge monsters.
Return to victory

As soon as the match started, I saw that the opponent brought a Death Splinter. In round 1, both sides competed to break the Divine Shield. In round 2, the real game began. The serious damage of my monsters tore the opponent's tank to pieces. In round 3, the opponent's defence completely collapsed. In this match, I felt invincible, just the opposite of how helpless I felt in the previous match.

In round 5, the final blow was struck, and the desired word appeared on the screen—"victory!. As I regained 20 rating points, I also regained my confidence. This rollercoaster journey of the Gold League is the real beauty of this game.
The rewards

When I returned to the lobby after the battle, I saw that my Daily Focus was complete and 2 reward chests were waiting to be claimed. That familiar excitement in my mind, what was inside the box? A simple flask or a big surprise?

As soon as I clicked the "reveal all" button, the screen lit up. And I was amazed by what I saw! I got a foundation pack in the first chest! And 3 frontier entries in the second. On a normal day, I might get some merits or a little sps, but getting a pack is always special.

Without delay, I decided to open the pack from my inventory. As the pack was spinning, my heart was pounding. Will I get a legendary?

I was happy as soon as the cards were revealed. I got:

Thalgrimore (Rare Summoner): This will strengthen my collection even more.
Dire Bear (Common): This 10 mana card is perfect for a high mana match like today.
It was accompanied by Chaos Furybringer, Spellmonger and Nim Guard Captain.
And some more cards
Today's session was absolutely perfect, an example of why we play Splinterlands. A frustrating start, an exciting fight in the middle, and a great reward at the end. What better feeling could there be than starting the day with a loss, but going to bed with a new card and a pack in hand?
How is your Gold League experience going? Have you ever used a better combination in an 89 mana match? Don't forget to let us know in the comments. See you in the next battle.
