My first tournament journey in splinterlands: An unforgettable experience

Those who play Splinterlands know that this game is not just a card battle, it is a combination of intelligence and proper strategy. Even though I have been associated with this game for a long time, I always had a kind of inertia in one place - and that is 'tournaments'. Although I regularly play the game's normal ranked battles or daily quests, I have never stepped foot in the huge arena of tournaments. However, recently, breaking that inertia, I participated in my first tournament in my life, and I want to share that experience with you today.

When I went to the tournament section and saw the 'Tidalring Modern Novice Invitational' tournament, I felt like this was the opportunity. Since registering, there was a kind of excitement and a little fear in my mind. Because here the fight is with the best. When I saw my username 'MIRZAIQI' in the list of competitors, I felt like a real warrior.

My first fight was against a player named 'WIMO3'. The mana allocated for the battle was only 22. At the same time, the game rules had ‘Lost Legendaries’ (meaning no legendary cards can be used) and ‘Wands Out’ (meaning only cards with magic attacks can be used). Choosing cards between such limited mana and difficult conditions was quite challenging.

I made a very thoughtful decision. Since the mana was very low, I chose the common summoner called ‘Kaylia Silverleaf’. The main reason for choosing this summoner was its low mana cost and its special ability, which is able to reduce the opponent’s magic attacks. It was a great choice to survive in the magic battle.

The main pillars of my strategy were two cards:

  1. Thanalorian Scion: I put it in the first position. The specialty of this card is its ‘Void Armor’. In a magic battle, when the opponent wants to attack health directly, this void armor first passes the magic damage over the armor. With 10 armor and 1 health, it has worked as an impenetrable wall for me.

  2. Forlorn Geomancer: I use this card in the second position. Its powerful magic attack has helped me defeat the opponent's cards quickly.

When the battle started, I was staring at the screen with bated breath. I was overwhelmed by the way my cards were implementing their plans in each round. Even though the opponent brought strong cards, their attacks were somewhat slowed down by the effect of my 'Kaylia Silverleaf'. When the screen finally showed the words 'VICTORY' and 'MIRZAIQI WINNER' in large letters, the joy was indescribable. Winning the first match of my first tournament in my life—this is a huge achievement for me.

When I looked at the leaderboard after the battle, I saw that I was ranked 8th after finishing 1 out of 11 battles. My points were 3. This match, fought on behalf of my guild 'YGG BRAWLERS (NIĐAVELLIR)', gave me confidence that with the right plan, it is possible to defeat any strong opponent.

Participating in tournaments is not just about winning or losing, but it is a great way to test your skills. I used to think that tournaments might be very difficult, but through this participation, I realized that this is actually the real fun of the game. In addition to recording videos, I have taken several screenshots, which will be a witness to my new journey.

This first tournament journey of Splinterlands has increased my interest in playing the game several times. For those who are still hesitant to participate in tournaments like me, I would say - dare to try it once. Even if you lose, you will learn something new, and the joy will be unlimited if you win. This small victory of mine may be just the beginning, I will continue to try to prove myself in bigger tournaments in the future.
