My incredible victory in the Nidhoggr vs Nidhoggr Splinterlands battle

Those who play Splinterlands know how important the card level is in this game. Whenever we see that our opponent's card or summoner is of a higher level than ours, then a fear works in our mind that it may be impossible to win this match. But today's battle has taught me anew that not only the card level, but also the right strategy or tactics can make the impossible possible.

In today's article, I will share with you my extraordinary victory experience, where I defeated the opponent's powerful level 4 summoner with my only level 1 nidhoggr summoner.

Battle background and ruleset

The battle was 57 mana, which indicated a pretty big fight. Fire, Earth, Dragon, and Death were available as elements. The most challenging were the two specialrule setss of Bevel:

1. Noxious Fumes: All units will be poisoned at the start of the battle and will lose health every round.

2. Collateral Damage: For each successful attack, adjacent units will also take 1 damage (Reckless).

My Strategy and Card Selection

In this type of ruleset, there is no alternative to cards with high health and healing abilities. I arranged the following cards with my level 1 Nidhoggr Summoner:

Ujurak Brave (Minotaur): I put this one in front because it has the Immunity ability. The poison of Noxious Fumes will not be able to touch it, which was a great move to hold the front line.

Rage (Dragon): This is a monstrous card. Its high health and Flying and Void abilities are very effective in toxic environments and against magic attacks.

Barashkukor (Fiend): With 5 magic damage and Fury, it was ready to take down the opponent's big cards.

Silverleaf Warlock (Elf): Its Swiftness ability increased the speed of my entire team, which gave me an advantage in attacking earlier.

Arachne Weaver (Skitterkin): This was the 'game changer' of the match, in my opinion. Its Corrupted Healing ability restored up to 70% of the health of my remaining cards per round, although it reduced my max health by 1. But it was the only way to survive the poison.

Halfling Refugee: It was kept as a backup for the end.

When the battle started, I saw on the screen that the opponent's Summoner was level 4! To be honest, I was a little nervous. Nidhoggr being level 4 meant that his cards were much stronger and had better abilities. But I was confident in my strategy.

From the first round, everyone's health started to decrease due to the effects of poison. But when my Arachne Weaver started her corrupted healing, my cards were getting back to life. Although the opponent's high-level cards were strong, their healing management was not as perfect as mine.

As the round went on, the opponent's cards were disappearing one by one due to the poison and my combined attacks. My Ujurak Brave stood strong with its immunity, and Rage and Barashkukor were wreaking havoc from behind. When I saw the last card of the opponent's level 4 Summoner fall, the joy I felt was indescribable.

My feelings

The feeling of pride I felt after winning the battle cannot be put into words. Defeating a level 4 with 1 level is a huge achievement for a player in Splinterlands. This victory proves that it is not only about having expensive or high-level cards to win the game, but also about arranging the cards intelligently according to the ruleset.
