WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WEREN’T AFRAID? MY EXPERIENCE AND LESSON

Hive-ghana wk30 engagement, made me recap one of my worst and most exciting moments back then when I was boarding at holy family college, Oku Abak.
My topic and experience will center on fear: as I took these three bold steps of overcoming fear,

FIRST, taking counseling,
SECOND, learning how to speak to a mirror before approaching the public,
THIRD,family engagement and practice on fear.

Absolutely without any doubt, facing our fear requires courage because by fighting our fear an individual not only becomes stronger but we expands our opportunities to take up new life challenges and abilities. By fighting our fear, we build resilience and confidence to achieve what was not thought possible.

My story goes thus:
Back then in school as a growing and learnable student, I had one big secret that always held me back from reaching full expectation and potential at the end in doing something or trying new opportunities.
This made me within my heart to harbor an overwhelming fear that seemed to have been killing, and paralyzing me whenever I wanted to face new opportunities and challenges, my fear had always been a part of me since childhood lurking in the shadows and whispering doubts into my mind. It was a heavy burden and a friendly companion that I carried with me wherever I went. Fear made me doubt my potential abilities up to the point of questioning my worth as a student, and prevented me and controlling me away from taking risks or trying new things.

But one glorious day, as God will have it, as I sat in front of the classroom as usual, my teacher announced an upcoming speech competition. Right there my fear arose again, the thought of standing in front of a crowd and speaking terrified me, my heart pondered and raced, immediately my palms grew sweaty, and my mind filled with thoughts of failure and embarrassment as I saw the illusion of the future, the fear within me grew stronger, threatening to consume me entirely. But deep down, I was certain and I knew that fear couldn't control my life forever and I had to cub it, as I yearned to break free from its suffocating grip and discover my inborn true potential.
With a courageous and newfound determination, I made a decision that would change my life totally and for good, then I took the first step by seeking counseling and guidance from my counseling teacher, my teacher had always believed in my little abilities, and this made him to listened diligently and attentively as I poured out my fears and insecurities, my teacher understood that facing fear head-on was not an easy task, but he knew that I had the strength within me to conquer it.

Together, we divided three means which was a devised plan. The counselor encouraged me to start small, taking baby steps toward overcoming my fear. He suggested that I practice speaking in front of a mirror, gradually increasing the number of people I spoke to until I was ready and uncomfortable enough to face a larger audience or public.

I took my teachers' advice to heart and I began my journey of deliverance to conquer my fear. I started by speaking to my reflection and sharing my thoughts and ideas with confidence. As I gained more confidence, took the second step which was to speak in front of my family, then a few close friends, and eventually my classmates. Each step forward was met with a mix of fear and excitement, but I refused to let fear control me any longer. I realized that fear was just an illusion, a barrier that I had created within my mind. I understood that the only way to overcome it was to face it head-on.

Finally, the long waiting day for the speech competition arrived. I stood backstage, my heart pounding in my chest. The fear threatened to overwhelm me, but this time, I was ever prepared and ready as I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and reminded myself of all the progress I had made.

As I stepped onto the stage, the spotlight shining down on me, I felt a surge of confidence that I had never experienced before. I can hear my voice rang out clear and strong, my words flowing effortlessly. The fear that had once held me captive was now nothing more than a distant memory. my speech captivated the audience, leaving them in awe and amazed at my courage and determination. He had fought his fear and emerged victorious. From that day forward.
Henceforth I no longer allowed fear to dictate my beautiful life. I embraced challenges, took risks, and pursued my dreams with unwavering determination.
My journey from a fearful student to a fearless warrior became a legend, forever etched in the hearts of those who dared to fight their fears and discover extraordinary strength.

See you in my next post bye for now.
