My First Tournament Win and Recap!

I've been playing Splinterlands for exactly one month and finally won this small, quick match, 8 player tournament! I'm someone who gets very competitive in the games I play and I really enjoy this feature of the game.

Going forward, I plan to blog about my tournaments, whether I win it all or lose in the first round so if you enjoy this kind of recap there should be plenty in store.

I don't have a ton of cards, pretty much everything I own is either from Chaos Legion or the Chaos Legion Reward cards so most of the tournaments will be Chaos Legion only but I may start branching out more via renting to play in others.

In this battle, we mostly played the same team. It's a 29 mana game with Armored up and Rise of the commons for rules while Fire and Earth are Banned. Without Obsidian's magic team available Water becomes really powerful so it's no surprise we both landed on Kelya. I opted for the Angelic Mandarin which gives me an extra ranged attacker where my opponent went for the Merdaali Guardian to heal his front line.

The Deep Lurker's take out the Hardy Stonefish and both Diemon Shark's are down to 3 HP. His healer hasn't paid off yet which is a good thing for me. The Giant Squids attack next and then...

The Angelic Mandarin hits and finishes off his Diemon Shark! For those that don't know, the order of attack priority, assuming equal speed, is Magic first, then ranged, then melee, then no attack monsters like the Merdaali Guardian. Rarity also matters, just not in this case since both monsters are Rares.

We clean up the rest of their team and take the win! Here is the link to the full battle if you'd like to watch the replay in game. Nizzyz has beaten me before so it felt good to win one for once!

In this battle we have 40 mana and the Spreading Fury rule with Water, Dark, and Dragon banned. Everyone is pretty sharp in these tournaments and we once again land on a similar team.

Tusk the wide is a nice tank with Void to reduce magic damage giving you an edge against Obsidian teams. I expected my opponent to run Tenyii Striker like I did so I liked the Disintegrator who has Demoralize (-1 melee attack) but he surprised me with almost a full magic team and Supply runner with Archery.

I need Tenyii Striker to wipe out his back line before my front line falls!

No surprises after the first round. My Tusk is down to 3 hp but his Supply Runner should fall next round to my Sneak attacker.

While we finished off his Supply Runner, we left his Tusk at 1 hp and it's not looking good.

And we got whooped! Jambinceent is pretty much my arch rival at this point. Lucky for me I had more wins against everyone else overall to steal first place.

The Supply Runner was a good choice as the extra ranged damage really helped him bring my Tusk down quickly so my sneak attack didn't have enough time to pay off. I'm still learning and this battle taught me a lot!

Battle Replay Here!

I hope you liked my first post! Please let me know what you want to see going forward. I wasn't sure if I should focus heavily into one battle and go really deep into the strategy or do more battles going over them briefly but covering more of the tournament so I settled on two battles this time.

Also, I'll be playing in Goodtrouble's Twitch Giveaway Live Stream Tournament tonight at 5:30PM central time. It's only 1 DEC to enter so come join me if you feel like it or wait for my recap to come out tomorrow to see how I do!

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
