ABOUT HAUNTED SPIDER

HAUNTED SPIDER OFFICIAL LORE

The second form of a Dark Eternal is determined by the state of the soul. Some of the more twisted souls take insect form, and the Haunted Spider is the favorite. The projectile venom and massive, armored thorax make the Haunted Spider a formidable (and intimidating) enemy in any battle.

CARD STATS

Haunted Spider is a great low mana cost ranged monster that gains Poison ability at level 4. Despite its low health, Haunted Spider is a great addition to your team given the horror that it can bring to your enemies due to the inflicted damage from poison. This makes it the perfect addition to your team during low mana battles or whenever you are facing a tank with Void or Shield ability. Just make sure that you stay away from enemies with Immunity!

Summoner: Selenia Sky
With the Close Range and 20 mana ruleset, there is no better Summoner that I can think of to help do significant damage to my enemy's team. With the +1 ranged attack boost from Selenia Sky, a low mana ranged monster becomes much more formidable.

Position 1: Dragon Spirit
In my opinion, Dragon Spirit is one of the underrated "tanks". With the Flying ability and decent Speed, Dragon Spirit becomes an excellent tank alternative. This is especially true if you only have 3 mana to spare. The Immunity ability and Redemption ability is also a huge plus for this cute monster.

Position 2: Naga Assassin
My plan for this match is to go almost ALL ranged monsters. Given that we are in Little League, I was forced to be creative and rely on cheap mana cost monsters. With Naga Assassin's 6 speed and Backfire ability, it becomes a decent tank/dodger for Snipe attacks.

Position 3: Halfling Alchemist
An excellent 2 mana monster for dealing with potential high monster damage from the enemy's side. Additionally, the Redemption is a huge boost given that it can easily remove 1 shield, Divine shield or kill 1 health monsters.

Position 4: Fire Spitter
Fire Spitter is one of the best ranged monsters in Little League. At level 4, Fire Spitter has 3 ranged attack and 4 Speed, making it a very formidable ranged monster. I wanted Fire Spitter to last as much as possible in this match, so I opted to put it in the Fourth Position.

Position 5: Haunted Spider
The star of this challenge: Haunted Spider. I used Haunted Spider in this match because of its poison ability and decent speed. In case my enemy puts a damage reducing tank, Haunted Spider can easily inflict damage with Poison.

Position 6: Grenadier
One of the underrated Neutral ranged monsters - Grenadier. What I like the most with Grenadier is its Blast and Snare ability. This monster becomes much more hard to deal with when paired with Selenia.

MATCH RESULTS AND VERDICT

Now that we have my battle lineup ready, let us watch Haunted Spider in action!

Match replay link

It seems like we got lucky that our enemy do not have Gold league maxed out cards for this ruleset. Few magic monsters also works in our favor given that it is the main weakness of Dragon Spirit (you can't dodge that!).

By the end of Round 1, the only monster left from our enemy's team is Haunted Spider and Twisted Jester. This is all because of the boost from Selenia Sky and the decent ranged attack and speed of our backline monsters. The match concluded at Round 2, with Dragon Spirit staying alive with 3 health.

Match Conclusion

image.png

I'm glad that my Selenia Sky strategy worked out pretty nicely. A huge part of it is because of the luck that I got from the ruleset. The close range and Splinters available made the match manageable. I am quite lucky that I have good cards available. Nevertheless, I am happy with the Win that I got (it's 39 DEC right there!).

HAUNTED SPIDER VERDICT

Prior to this week's challenge, Haunted Spider has always been part of my Death deck strategies. Whenever I am running a Death deck, expect that I have Haunted Spider rented for that. What I like the most with Haunted Spider is its Poison ability. With Poison, even Lord Arianthus will be crumbling with the 2 damage every round. Poison is so good for countering tanks that have shield and void.

Moving forward, I will definitely use Haunted Spider again in my matches. I am still in the process of trying out various strategies that can synergize well with Haunted Spider. That 3 mana cost deadly ranged monster is just hard to resist!
