Battle Mage Secrets Challenge - Broken Arrows

It has been a while since I last had the time to write a post and participate in these fun weekly challenges by @splinterlands. I just realized it now that they have mixed up things a little bit and changed it to rulesets focused which seems fun as well!

So now I'm here to write another post! Here, we will be discussing this match fought in a Broken Arrows ruleset.

MATCH DETAILS

Rulesets and Manacap

Watching matches with three rulesets is fun. For this match, we had 46 manacost (which is a lot), stampede, weak magic, and broken arrows ruleset. The teams are only limited to Water and Earth Splinters. So that sounds like a treat!

STRATEGY DISCUSSION ABOUT THE RULESET

Personally, I prefer rulesets wherein one type of attack is usually unavailable. This just makes everything a lot easier to process since the possibility narrows down by quite a lot. While I did not personally play this match on my account, I would have probably used the sam lineup, but would only tweak it a bit by removing River Hellondale as that monster is usually an easy target for Opportunistic monsters when Taunt is not available for us.

Broken Arrows ruleset tip

This is mainly for beginners as I don't think I am in the proper position to teach more experienced players on how to think about strategies.

When playing Broken Arrows ruleset, I mainly focus on building a strategy that will either weaken Magic and Melee attackers or much better, damage them. Since I do not have a Mylor ready, I would have still chosen Kelya in this match since my Water team is much stronger than Earth, and the +1 armor of Kelya provides a nice boost in a Weak Magic ruleset.

Kelya vs. Kelya lineup overview

LINEUP SHORT OVERVIEW

In terms of lineup, the must-haves for me in a Kelya lineup in this combination of rulesets will be Baakjira, Diemonshark, and Deeplurker.

Here's why:

  1. Diemonshark - Diemonshark is an absolute beast for this ruleset combination. Its Trample makes it stronger in a Stampede ruleset, while its high armor makes it a formidable tank given the Weak Magic ruleset. However, its only weakness will be shatter.

  2. Baakjira - Baakjira is a great backup tank for Diemonshark given its Void, Strangthen, and Tank Heal. Since the only options for this match are either magic and melee attackers, it makes Baakjira's Void much useful.

  3. Diemonshark - I just personally love Diemonshark in most rulesets (except fog of war and the thorns one). Its Poison ability for Gold league & opportunity makes it a dominant killer and pickup artist if the enemy forgets to put a Taunt or Camouflage in place. This can be a make or break for the match given that you'll have the opportunity to kill the enemy's support backline.

ACTUAL MATCH

Match Results

Enemy's Baakjira standing strong

Since the enemy placed its Baakjira at the backline, Sand Worm's and Pelacor Bandit's efforts to attack were rendered moot. This just leaves Deeplurker attacking Hellondale and being the only chance to succeed. However, the repair from Merdaali Guardian (a real guardian in this match) made that feat unsuccessful. These counter-measures by the opponent made my account a lose on this one.

A whopping +58 rating win for Ash-Lord!

As you can see, my account took a -29 rating hit on this match, but I'm glad ash-lord took a well deserving +58 rating gain. If I could redo that match, I would have probably leaned more towards focusing on the enemy's frontline with magic attackers and a reach monster (Flying Squid).

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this match. In case you missed the previous replay link, click HERE to watch a battle in a BROKEN ARROWS RULESET.
