THEME: DEEPLURKER

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: COMMON
Element: WATER
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: Opportunity

The Deeplurker Overview

Deeplurker is common water monster from Chaos Legion edition. Deeplurker has a special ability at the 1st level that's called opportunity (Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health). As a result it can attack from any position unless the battle ruleset has any special condition. It is very solid card with decent amount of 6 HP and 3 melee at level 1.

Key abilities:

  • Opportunity - Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health. Did you know? Opportunity ability is very useful in the Fog of War ruleset, which prevents Sneak and Snipe. Deeplurker has this ability and still can attack from any position.
  • Poison - Attacks have a chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied. The Poison ability is triggered 50% of the time. Poison does damage at the end of the turn and is not affected by shield or void.
  • Demolize - Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters by 1 to melee attack. Remember! It cannot be less than 1.

My strategy and lineup

The ruleset of the battle is as follow:

  • Equalizer - The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
  • Unprotected - Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs..
  • Mana Cap of 44.
  • Available Splinters - Fire, Water and Light.

For this ruleset the main focus is to attack one monster, then kill others. It is very good to use tank with high Spped and Attack. HP is not as importank because equalizer give you same HP for all monsters.I choose the demonshark as a tank due to overall good stats: speed, attack and hp. My second position monster is Flying Squid with Reach ability. It can attack monsters from the second position on the team. Deeplurker is on third position with his high speed and huge attack. Then Coral Wreight wit sneak and magic ability. I could chose tank heal monster instead to keep my tank as long as possible on the first position. River Hellondale is on 5th position with inspire ability (Gives all friendly Monsters +1 Melee attack) and ressurect if my tank dies to quickly. Last position is for Djinn Oshanuss. He has high amount of speed and phase ability which makes him very effective to dodge attacks. I was expecting my opponent to play sneak monster based on his previouse battles. Unfortunatly in this battle last position wasn't the best choice for him.

Round 1

In the first round my all melee attack monsters was buffs with inspire ability. So they do 13 melee damage and kills opponent's tank monster easly. My opponent have magic and ranged attack monsters so can lower my tank HP due to lack of protection.

Round 2

In the second round my tank was dead twice, thanks to resurrect. Flying Squid takes tank position. Even though he has has high speed all attacks hit him. I didn't have luck with dodge at all.

Round 3

In the third round both tank monsters are defeated. Both of us chose strong attacks monsters.

3.png

Round 4-5

In the 4-5th round my deeplurker took tank position. He survived there for the duration of two rounds and dealt lot of damage.

4.png

Round 6-10

In the 6-10th rounds my aim was to kill magic attack monster in the front. I have very fast team with speed buffs, whilst my opponent is using ranged attack monsters. I could dodge couple attacks and win the battle. These rounds was hit by hit ora hit by miss. Of course I could miis ranged attacks and my opponent couldn't miss magic attacks. So victory was on my side.

Round 11

This is the last round. My opponent monster with ranged couldn't attack from fisrt position so I defeated him very quickly.

Did my strategy work? What I would do differently next time?

Yes. Definitly my strategy worked very good. Deeplurker is very strong monster especially when it can be paired with other monster that has inspire ability. One thing that I could change was monster with tank heal to keep my tank longer on the battlefield. Coral Wreight wasn't good choice for this ruleset. So I could Merdaali Guardian instead.

What do I like about Deeplurker most?

Deeplurker is super usefull in the most ruleset. It is also be very solid monster at higher levels once it get demorilize and poison. He is fast and has high attack, those two abilities combines with opportunity makes him very powerful.

What I do not like?

This monster is overall very good. So only positives no negatives.
