100 WEEKS: A Season Of Learning And Unlearning

Dear Hive Learners

Good morning from this end of the world. I have been so engrossed lately that it caused me not to come over here to see what's trending. So, it is 100 weeks already. That's quite over one year, going to two. Who says time waits for anybody? Time is certainly not our friend. It would not wait, not even for the strongest man. It is a great feat for a community to remain consistent to its objectives for a whole one hundred weeks.
Though, I will not adjudged myself to have been frequent here but as a member of the community, I know I have a stake here too. Coming or subscribing to #HL wasn't a mistake. It was a move I never regretted.

This community with the weekly prompt challenge has given me the reason to think and be thoughtful. The diverse topics that are released may sometimes prove difficult, it gave me and I think other community members the ability to do research and proffer solutions to many challenges facing the human world and mankind through writing.

Lessons Learned

These past one hundred days for me in this community have served different purposes. From the outside, I used to think that there was favoritism in this community because some posts would get upvoted while others wouldn't. Frankly, I got bothered that I resolved that there were cheats here. Alas! I was wrong.

Every person has a choice to make after a simple instruction has been given. If you abide, you'd eat the good of the hand but if otherwise, enjoy the consequences too. Some of the learned here are as follows:

•Time Possessive
Keeping to time is one vibe about Hive learners in these that one had to abide by. The culture of doing what is meant for now later has eaten deep into our fabrics and it gets us into a fixed corner and we get to lose opportunities. It was with the same spirit that I ventured here and it did cost me a lot. Thankfully, I had to adjust and live by the rules.

•Tag Palaver/Calmness
With the wrong tags, your post will be lost no matter how much you have invested in it. Here, because I put myself under unnecessary pressure to meet the deadline, I usually ended up making silly and unpardonable mistakes with the tags. I probably can count the number of times I made such mistakes. I have however turned to a new leaf. Many thanks to Hive learners.

•Engage or Lose Out
With the Hive Learners community, engagement is as important as getting upvotes and being recognized. At first, I would just do my work and submit then run away and watch from a distance how the upvotes will come. Usually, I waited in vain because the votes weren't coming. One key factor in this community is to read other people's work, make necessary comments, then positive and constructive criticism, and then, you'd get back the same feedback. From a distance, newcomers who do not know what or how upvotes go around may misconstrue it as favoritism, something I had thought before I got to know how it works.
Perhaps you are reading this blog, and know for good that aside from this lovely community, generally on the Hive blockchain, you can't survive if you do not engage in other people's work.

What Did I Unlearn?

Seriously, I came into Hive as a lone ranger. There was little or no orientation. I was always late to the submission deadline and whatnot. Coming to #HiveLearners has changed a lot of things about my response.

°My Will
One of the things I have unlearned is to do my will. Many times, I keep doing what I feel is good enough without following the set rules. This has always landed me in disappointment but gracefully, I saw the need to make amends and so far so good. Today, I can gladly say that I have been humbled by the community. I realized that one singular individual cannot be bigger than a community.

°Do It Now
You all know what I mean. In the early days of this community, I was up and doing but along the line because of my wrong perception, I fell off. I often make excuses for myself to do a particular task later which ends up not being attended to. This I would say caused me more. This is the reason I seldom submit my works in the community.

One a general note, the community remains an entity that followers must be willing to work to enjoy the satisfaction that comes with obedience with loneliness of the heart.
Hence, I would like to tender my appreciation to all the moderators of this great community for their unwavering and untiring spirit. Keep up the good work. If 100 weeks is possible, so is 100 years.
