I can say one of the best places on planet Earth to live in is my beloved country, Nigeria. This is so because the weather conditions are so favorable. In Nigeria, there are two climatic seasons and both are significant to existence.

Dry Season: Pain and Gain

The first weather condition in Nigeria is called the dry season which usually begins in December and ends in March. During this season, there is usually the presence of sunlight which generates a lot of heat during the season. This is one season that farmers look out for. During this season, people who are involved in one occupation or the other make use of the heavy presence of sun radiation to preserve or process food or agricultural produce, generally. The dry season is not usually favorable in some parts of the country, especially in the north. The intensity of the radiation is so much that it affects the complexion of the people who live there.

This year, 2024, the dry season has set a new record as the level of hotness that occurred has never been experienced in the history of the region.

Rainy Season: Pain and Gain

During the rainy season, the season weather experience in my country, which begins in April and ends in September, there is always a record of continuous rainfall. During this season, farmers go to work and plant crops like maize, millet, beans, groundnut, guinea corn, and many other crops.

This season is mild and people usually have the best of the time. Sometimes though, for people who are not mobile, movement may be affected due to incessant rainfall.

People who live in the coastal areas usually have a lot of fishing during this period. Different species of dish are pushed to larger water bodies. In turn, the fishermen and women get to work and bring many of those fish to harvest. This season is one where people count their profits in turn. On the other hand, the rain could get so turbulent and wreak havoc in most parts of the country.

One major problem we encounter in Nigeria during the rainy season is floods. The most recent flood incident in Nigeria occurred in Kogi state. Houses were swallowed up by the flood and a lot of people were displaced. Some had to pay the highest price, death.

Solution To The Problems Caused By Both The Rainy Season and Dry Season

To fully put in control what becomes of our climatic condition, some of the following moves will be helpful a great deal.

Ban On Mono-oxide Release on The Atmosphere: One major factor that leads to the intensity of heat is the release of mono-oxide into the atmosphere which perforates the ozone layer, causing a leakage. To stop this, our government should institutionalize an agency to checkmate industrial and motor vehicle pollution or bush morning to reduce to the nearest minimum this danger that is causing us our planet. Individuals too should be intentional in reducing the hazards caused by this human caused pollution, until then, nothing may seem to happen.

Construction and Maintenance of Drainage System: Poor drainage systems have also disallowed free flow of rainwater to its natural source. The already constructed drainages are either blocked due to poor maintenance. The best way to help the situation is that government, corporate organizations, Community Development Agencies and philanthropists should support the construction of more drainage systems that will help carry water from residential areas into canals and then to the natural geography of a body of water.

There is no gain saying that with these two preferred solutions, the Nigerian weather condition which causes some problems for the citizens would have been controlled to a large extent.
