It Isn't A Job For Broke Guy's After All | Hive Learners Prompt #103 Edition 2

My perception about children changed when I newly got married. It was my wife that made me see children as tender and mild, to be helped and made happy with any slight opportunity one has. Before this time, I don't like getting too close to children, especially when they poo or wee on themselves. One does not know what it takes to be a father or mother until you have your own child. This was what prompted me to take up this job.

Nothing gladdens the heart more than doing what you like and enjoy doing. From a tender age, I have loved to see Santa Claus but never envisaged that I would be wearing the regalia someday. I know that some children do not like coming in contact with Santa and I was once like that too. But with time, I overcame the fear of the masquerade behind the mask.

A lot has been said and heard about Santa Claus. I often think that Santa was a mysterious being from some planet that shows up only during Christmas to distribute gifts like candies to well-behaved children. Sooner than later, it got clearer to me that there were different Santa Claus in person but the same in regalia.

How I Became A Santa.

During one of our church services during the Christmas season, the children were having a celebration in their department and an arrangement had been made earlier for a brother to act as Santa Claus but he never showed up. This happened a few months after my wedding.

I was contacted to help out so that the children wouldn't feel disappointed. Plus, the service was going to be paid for. During this period, I believed in God for a financial breakthrough. I didn't consider the call to act as Santa Claus as the opportunity to break through my financial incapability.

Since it was to make the children happy, I took up the job. It was fun. At first, wearing the paraphernalia was a problem for me. It looked like the Biblical case study of David trying to wear the armory of King Saul. I didn't just fit into the regalia.

The children's teachers had to donate their wrappers for me to put in my stomach region and into my trousers so that it would appear robust. It was funny when I completed the procedure. My wife couldn't stop making fun of me.

I Did It For The Children But…..

The main reason I accepted to do the task was to make the children happy but it came with a brown envelope. The envelope was quite unexpected. I couldn't reject it because I was in dire need of the money.
It was our first Christmas as a couple and I can't afford to celebrate less. So, the brown envelope came in at the right time.

How Do It End Up

All the kids were happy seeing a Santa with a pot belly and a bag of goodies. I gave out sweets, pens, toys, and the likes to the children. I could see the amusement in their countenance.

It didn't just end there. I became well known for this act and more jobs came in. All the churches and schools around the vicinity started to call me for presentations with juicy offers. It started as a child's play but turned out to be a lucrative engagement. Over the years, I have perfected my appearance and modality of operation. For real, it isn't a job for broke guys.

Wow, it takes courage to do that joke. The fact you accepted the offer shows how caring you are.
You did well by contributing to the kids' happiness and your act came with connections and rewards.
