Nicholas Herbert, the man behind the theory that the moon, sun, and stars can be put off and on, walked into the board room with a heavy smile, his red face facing into the paleness of Scandinavian skin that had been frozen in the cold fog. His blonde long hair was tied with a blue hair band, dangling as he approached the seated lieutenants who were ready to unveil the next breakthrough in science, the ignition of the elemental forces.

Good day lady and gentlemen. We have a spaceship to fly. It's my pleasure to announce to you all that Eldorado is ready if you are ready.

This short opening speech put lieutenants on their feet as they applauded General Nicholas Herbert who had already stopped walking now. He took the joystick from the table and pointed to the smart board that was already on with a grey backlight. The only lady among these lieutenants, Sergeant Major Adeline Sergious pressed a red bottom behind the neck of her chair and the boardroom became dark, leaving the smart board brighter and its characters visible.

Two thousand miles away from the earth is all that we would fly to reach the cosmic abode of the moon. Before its appearance on earth at night time. Lieutenants Luke and Nath would run electrodes from the base to the top of the sun, simply. And from the earth, we can change the dimensions of the lightning to man.

Herbert said, leaving the whole boardroom occupants to clap their hands in acceptance of his plan to control the moon and other elemental forces.

This trip would be broadcast live on national TV, hence, you all need to play the hero's path and become the national hero that you already are.

The general continued. In less than twenty- four hours, they will fly out from the Earth into space to find a lasting solution over the radiation of the sun on Earth in recent times that has affected livestock and resulted in diseases against humans.

Whoever it was that made the sun, moon, and stars did not consider the effect of the intensity of heat it would generate and the effect on the planet, earth.

General Nicholas Herbert concluded his narration of how the journey would look like and requested questions or suggestions from the lieutenants. With his bald-skinned head bowed over the table, the flight lieutenant, Lt Gerald Whitehead rose with a salute to the General and said:

Sir, with the available space for fuel and considering the length of time we would travel, how do we get re-fueled when we have exhausted what quantity El-Dorado can carry?

Whitehead questioned the refueling process and the General's response gave a vivid hope that the mission was already a success.

There is a backup for the refueling of El Dorado. One space tank would come behind El Dorado for this.

With this, the team was ready to launch into space. The twenty-four-man team, including Adeline Sergious the only lady, were excused from the boardroom to the astronaut room where they kitted up and walked into the ship. By exactly noon, the ship made a voyage from the earth.

The thick smoke from the ship exhaust pipe covered the whole place and within seconds, the ship had disappeared from the earth. The general and the other control room agents studied their journey through the virtual smart board. So far, the ship has made a lot of progress. It would reach the cosmic abode of the sun and the remaining elemental forces in five hours.

Hey Luke, be careful not to collide with those huge asteroids. They could cause a lot of damage to El Dorado.

Huge asteroids were dropping from space, rolling slowly since there was no gravity there. It proved also that El Dorado would move slowly for the sake of fewer gravitational forces in space.

When they reached the cosmic abode, the radiation of the sun was so intense that they could not come down from the ship. Luke and Nath just remained dazed, waiting for the last order from the control room but no orders were made.

These young fellows wanted to return as heroes back to base and were ready to take their chances irrespective of the situation they found themselves in. They already mapped out their plans.
Luke and Nath kept studying the radiation, and as soon as it dropped, they pressed their exit buttons and launched out from the ship with their haversack of electrodes.

From the control room, the General queried the exit of the two Lieutenants from the spaceship without waiting for orders but before the General could conclude his query, Luke and Nath had connected the electrodes to the top and base of the sun, causing it to be controlled from earth.

The officers at the boardroom all rose in ovation for the bravery of the Lieutenants for such a huge stride towards making the earth a haven. The moon and stars would react based on the reflection of the sun, hence, an electrode didn't need to be connected to it.

One major concern that the team faced was that the refueling ship had not arrived as at the time they ought to take their flight back to the earth. As worried that they were, the Lieutenants decided to make an overview of their present location. It took each of them about ten minutes to make a step. The gravitational force of their environment made their movement slow such that it affected the amount of length they could walk to. Nath was the only one who found a cube of gold after three steps.

Soon, the space tank arrived and El-Dorado was refueled and the journey back to earth began. In no distant time they arrived to a tumultuous ceremony and the military base where they were rewarded with laurels for connecting the controlling electrodes to the sun, making it possible for the control to come.from the earth, most especially from the military base in Oloibiri, in Rivers state.

Wow, great description, it almost as though you are an astronaut. You did justice to the terms. And I am glad they succeeded in connecting electrodes to the sun to control it from Earth.

Thank so much for your comment. I only had to show the astronaut part of me in the piece.

This story reads well, @mrenglish. You have worked out a scheme within the context of the reality you describe that is almost credible. The conversation between the characters is well crafted. The arc is strong.

The one issue we have with the story is its overall credibility. Given the reality we all live in today, no one could get close to the sun. In order for us to accept the premise of your story, you would have to lay a foundation, explain how the sun has changed so that people can get close to it.

Still, even with the credibility factor, you have written a good story. Thank you for sharing it.
