So, yesterday was a great day. I supported the vision that this year, the women in our church will be celebrated. Since it was International Women's Day, we decided to use the opportunity to celebrate all the women in our church. Before the D-day, as part of the celebration, the men in the church gathered to see how to support the programme financially.

Our basis for taking this step is that our women have been very supportive in all ramifications. Now is the time to pay them back. The IWD which we commonly refer to as Mothers' Day was planned in such a way that the women would handle all programmes in the church.

They started with a matching song. All the women, adorned in a touch of white apparel sang melodiously from the back entrance of the church to specially arranged seats for them. We watched them as their feminine voices filled the air. Different presentations were made and I can tell you for free that all presentations taught a good lesson.

Busy But Guilty

The first presentation was a drama of a woman whose husband reported to the church women's leader that she takes much time building a career and leaving her home front to suffer.
She didn't see anything bad in spending late night returning home from work. Though she has a thriving career, her home soon dilapidated because of neglect.

This drama went a long way in emphasizing the place of the woman as the homemaker and helper of the man. When this role is not well played, a vacuum is created which could undermine the growth of family virtues.

At the end of the drama, the wife who had built a career for herself regretted that she didn't play her role as a mother to her children and wife to her husband.

The Wise Woman

Apart from the drama and Bible competition that was held, one of the women was nominated give a talk on the topic: The Wise Woman. It was a frank talk and the content wasn't just for women alone.
Proverbs 31:1-31
We read this Bible passage as led by the woman who was giving the talk and every verse sent a message to me, and I am sure it did the same to ass many people who read it with understanding.

The first lesson to be learned is that a wise woman builds her home while the foolish woman pulls it down with her own hands. This goes to say that no matter what, we should always look back from where we started out marital journey. And to leverage on that to build a joyful home. A home where everyone can be happy to be.

A wise woman wouldn't go about involving a third party about the happenings in her home. Hence, a wise woman should learn to tame her mouth and not discuss her family issues with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

She would pray for the success of her partner, the husband and not work against his success. Marriage is not a business venture where one will begin to seek to make profit from one's partner.

This programme ended on a high note as refreshment was served to all the congregation.

One thing I held high in my hands as a take away is the need to always look back and remember the family as the only fortress that you have. Knowing that we should make an effort in building the family.
A strong family tie is important. The more we have solid family tie and culture, the better the society.
I entered this week with this great spirit, that I would do anything to ensure that I play my positive role in ensuring that my family is the best because I want to live in an almost perfect world.
