As we are approaching the date of Chaos packs presale and the date when vouchers for presale will be given out, I started wondering one thing. How many packs am I going to be able to buy in the presale with my SPS staked? If anyone else is wondering about that, say no more and dig into this article, since I am going to break down mathematics for you and calculate how much SPS you need staked for your desired Chaos packs.

What do we know about Vouchers?

• For every pack purchased in the presale, you need to spend 4$ and one VOUCHER token.
• 1 million packs available in the presale, 1 million VOUCHER tokens to be created.
• 33,333.333 VOUCHER tokens will be created daily over the course of the 30 presale period (1M VOUCHER tokens in total) and will be awarded to all players who have SPS tokens staked in their in-game account based on the amount staked as a percentage of the total staked across all players in the game.
• Example of earning VOUCHERS: if there are a total of 100M SPS tokens staked across all players in the game, then a player who has 100k SPS tokens staked accounts for 0.1% of the total and would therefore receive 33.333 VOUCHER tokens (0.1% of 33,333.333) each day over the presale period.

So, how many Vouchers am I getting for my SPS staked?

Well, it depends on how many SPS tokens are staked at the time of presale beginning. For this article, I will just use the numbers that are available to me now, on 29th of September 2021, even though this numbers are going to change for sure. Maybe I will make another update later.

Let's assume that I have 1000 SPS tokens staked right now and do some math.

I made this simple Excel file, with some formulas to calculate how much VOUCHER tokens am I getting and some other things.

I hope you all understand these numbers, but let's break down the important stuff.

At the time of writing there are 104.592.134 SPS tokens staked. This number increased a lot since the announcement of the presale date and other details. As much as I believe, this is also the reason for SPS price jump, but that is not important for this topic.

Every day that I have SPS staked I also receive 2,36 SPS as a reward. There are 18 days left until presale start, so that would add up to roughly 42 SPS, which we will restake. These numbers will change, since number of total staked SPS is increasing rapidly, but at least you can get good estimation.

My 1000 SPS represent 0,001% (0,009561% to be more accurate) of the total SPS staked. That means I will receive about 0,3 VOUCHER every day, which adds up to 9,56 VOUCHERS in 30 days total. That means I can buy 9 packs in the presale. Yes, you have additional 42 SPS after 18 days, but also number of total staked SPS will increase for at least 4,2%, so I will just leave it as it is.

How about if I want to buy 100 packs?

Let's face it. We all want to get at least these additional 10% extra packs. For some it is just too much, some have much higher goals. But for the purpose of this article, I will assume that I want to buy 100 packs, to get extra 10.

That is not even hard to calculate. since there are 1 million VOUCHER tokens to be given out and you want 100 of them, you need 0,01% of all SPS staked every day. Currently that means 10.460 staked SPS.

Purchasing packs with SPS?

So, you are thinking about 10% discount on purchasing packs with SPS? There are a few things you can do. You can go to an exchange and buy SPS just before the purchase. Or you can purchase SPS now, stake it for some time, and then use some of your profits for purchasing packs. It could be a very good investment to buy SPS now and hope for the price to go up, so you can buy packs with much lower investment. But of course, you are also risking price fall.

This is difficult to predict. It really depends on what will the price be at the time of purchase. I will assume that it will stay the same, even though in my opinion it will go up a lot. At the current price, you would need 863 SPS for buying 100 Chaos card packs (10% discount considered).

If you want to stake enough SPS to get 100 VOUCHER tokens and buy packs with SPS earnings I would recommend doing the following. Let's assume that number of staked SPS will rise to 120 million (very possible). That would mean 76% APR on staked SPS. Reasonable number would be around 14.000 staked SPS.

Having 14.000 SPS staked would mean, that you would get around 116 VOUCHER tokens. It would also mean about 874 SPS earned as a reward. For all of this you would have to invest 5835$ at the current SPS market price of 0,42$. It is a big investment, but you would get 110 packs with no additional money needed and these packs can be quite valuable in the future. Additionally, you can sell 16 VOUCHERS which you don't need on the hive market.

What would be fair price VOUCHERS? How much would you sell them for? 1$? 5$? 10$? I don't know. Let me read your opinion in the comments.

Well, this is where I finish with my first blog ever on Splintertalk. I realize that everything written above is just an assessment and speculation on real situation in the future. But numbers I have thrown at you at the end are quite realistic.
