Harvester

Card Summary

Harvester is an interesting concept. It is a 5 mana card meant to tank and dish out some damage. It costs between 0.35$-0,45$. I see it as a Peaceful Giant that took up arms and decided to not be so peacful anymore. I rarely see a harvester on the field, but I would like to see more experiments with this card.

Info and Stats :

Type : Earth - It has a lot of other competitors amont Earth cards, probably why we see it so rarely.
Rarity : Common
CP : 5
Archetype : Goblin/Machine - It is not a really a goblin, it is a goblin made machine.

What do the stats say about it?

From the table we can see that the first upgraded thing is its Health, thus trying to cement its role as a tank, and the next upgraded thing is its damage, thus trying to dish out even more damage. It doesn't bother to upgrade its agility for a long time, but its 2 points in agility already make it one of the faster tanks in the game. What it lacks is armor. Harvester with armor would be a lot more popular. Towards the later stages, it tries to stay competitive using Enrage, which with its big Health pool is viable. Using its opress ability, it can easily clear out any damage sponges without attack such as Peaceful Giant.

Rulesets:

Advantageous :

  • Back to Basics : is a huge hurdle to overcome at this mana cost
  • Noxious Fumes - being a tank with a good Health pool means it can shake off some Poison
  • Earthquake - can withstand the +2 damage each turn, because of the high HP
  • Armored Up - The extra armor makes it an even more durable tank

None of these Rulesets are amazingly advantageous for the Harvester. The Advantage lies in its ability to soak up damage while the rest of the team harasses the enemy backline.

Disadvantageous::

  • I don't think there is a disadvantageous ruleset for this card, it is normally affected like all other cards by each ruleset. In Little Leauge you can't play it, so it isn't a disadvantage.

Harvester vs Biceratops

Both of the monsters are earthy-type tanks. However they differ in mana pricing and some other stats. Biceratops sacrifices 3 HP to get 1 armor, which seems like a bad deal, but take in account that 1 armor can more or less nullify any amount of physical damage dealt to it, whereas that physical damage will directly influence the Healthpool of the Harvester. I find myself using Biceratops quite more than the Harvester. However if I do have 1 mana to spare on a tank I will pick Harvester. I usually count on the extra speed to deal damage to the enemy tank before my harvester gets taken out.

Harvester Lore

logo_splinterlore_800.png

Harversters are contraptions made by a crazy goblin scientist Protax Funklyborg. He invented them while he was spending time in his hideout in The Seed Mountains. These machines do not need upkeep. They just spend their time in Giant Grasslands of Primordia chilling. No one really knows why they were made, but they are sometimes used in tournaments.

Nice explanation about the card. Harvester was the first card I owned in Splinterlands, I got it for free in a giveaway.

It's a really cool card, I like making up dumb combos with it in practice mode lol. Always fun when I catch my opponent not ready.

Hey, nice article. It's a nice card, I use it often with my favorite Earth Splinter in Melee-Based Rulesets as a sort of secondary Tank.
I also like the current prices in regards to the new CL Supply of 20x more cards.
