The age-old debate of "family comes first" versus "I am my top priority" is a complex and thought-provoking topic that has been discussed and analyzed from various perspectives. Both phrases hold significant weight and merit, and the choice between them ultimately depends on an individual's values, beliefs, and personal experiences.

Many people consider the adage "family comes first" to be an old and deeply rooted principle that stresses the value of close family connections and responsibilities. Families are usually thought of as the pillars of human society because they offer support, love without conditions, and a feeling of identity.

Putting our own family's needs before of our own, making sacrifices for their welfare, and supporting them through good times and bad can all be examples of valuing family. It stresses the bonds and ties that bind us as individuals and encourages selflessness, service, and commitment to loved ones.

On the other hand, saying "I am my top priority" communicates independence, self-love, and self-care. It shows how important it is to put our own happiness, growth, and well-being first. This concept stresses independence, fulfillment, and respect for oneself. It also highlights the value of taking care of one's own physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Prioritizing oneself might include setting limits, following interests and ambitions, and scheduling self-care and reflection time.
Personally, I think that living a satisfying and joyful life depends on finding a balance between these two ways.

Prioritizing self-care and personal development is just as important as prioritizing family, even if the former is a vital foundation and source of support. It is impossible to pour from an empty cup, and taking care of ourselves allows us to be the greatest versions of ourselves for the people we love.

It is important to understand that the definition of family might include adopted families, close friends, and supportive groups in addition to blood relations.

Whether biological or not, putting a high value on relationships that contribute to and improve our well-being can be equally helpful in creating a deep feeling of identity and belonging.

In conclusion, the phrases "family comes first" and "I am my top priority" each hold a unique significance and can resonate with individuals in different ways. Finding a balance between prioritizing family and self-care is essential in navigating the complexities of life and relationships.

Ultimately, what matters most is honoring and respecting both our connections to others and our own well-being, creating a sense of wholeness and fulfillment in our lives.

Hi @mummygo it's a pleasure to interact with you. We coincide in unison in our contextualizations between family and personal priority. You call it balance between both, I call it flexibility but both must be present in my actions, otherwise, I could not tolerate it.
Until another opportunity !HUG !LUV
