Sacrifice and Strength: The Unspoken Stories of Women -#LOH 175

Hello everyone, Welcome to my blog!

It's a known fact that women give up a lot for their loved ones and families. Women frequently prioritize the needs of others over their own, even whether it means delaying their professional development, giving up free time, or compromising their own health and comfort.

These sacrifices may seem heroic and self-sacrificing, but they can also be detrimental to a woman's physical and emotional well-being.

I would want to share a personal story of a sacrifice I made on behalf of my family. I knew I had to be there for my mother when she received the news that she had a terminal disease. In order to care for her, I relocated to stay with my parents and took an unexpected leave of break from work.

It was a challenging period on both a mental and physical basis. I stayed at my mother's side for many consecutive days and nights, supporting her emotionally and assisting with everyday chores.

It was difficult to watch my mom decline as well, even though I was glad to be there to support her. I frequently felt overburdened and worn out. I continued to move ahead nevertheless, since I knew she needed me.

Sadly, she passed away. I tried to resume my work where I stopped when my mother died . But I soon saw that something was different. My passion and inspiration for my work had lessened.

My mother's nursing experience had transformed me. I came to the conclusion that this life was just too short to be wasted on things that didn't make me happy. I made the brave decision to go after an alternate career path that more closely matched my interests and ideals. Though it was a challenging choice, it has really fulfilled me.

Whether or not they have shared their story, I think a lot of women have alike sacrifice stories. Stories like these occasionally have the power to uplift and inspire others.

Taking care of those we love is crucial, but we also need to remember to look after ourselves. It is necessary for our personal wellbeing to be able to assist others. It's acceptable to prioritize our personal needs occasionally and to take a break for a moment and think.

By telling my story, I want to motivate other women to make decisions that are true to who they are, even if it entails sacrificing something.

Thanks for reading...

I am @mummygo

I pray her soul rests in peace. It's good as you stayed with her till she passed, I wish I was with mine before she passed away.

I understand that feeling of responsibility to take care of someone you love.
I worked my usual Nurses night shift at night and took care of my late roommate in the day until I couldn't. It cost me in my own health and part of the reason I am on a paid medical leave.

Wow, you were truly a selfless caregiver to both your late roommate and your patients. While it is an honor to be able to care for someone you love, it's also a lot of responsibility and takes a toll on your own health and well-being. I'm so sorry that you were pushed to your limits and had to take medical leave as a result. It's important to take care of yourself, so you can continue to be the amazing caregiver you are.

Some times in life we are put through such situations where it's difficult to decide which path to walk on. You have been an amazing daughter and I am sure your Mother in heaven must be showering her blessings to you all the time. Yes, when a family member is ill, it takes away a lot of our energy taking care of them and that can really drain us out. We cannot even leave them unattended.
Your sacrifice led you to new openings in life, and I am glad you are doing what you enjoy. Truly, life is short, make the most of it.

Listen, how nice and important it is to take care of our parents, they took care of us and if there is an illness and they require that help, it is very important to provide it, to make them go through their difficult days better. A hug @mummygo

Oye que bonito e importante es cuidar de nuestros padres, ellos cuidaron de nosotros y si hay una enfermedad y ellos requieren esa ayuda es muy importante brindarsela, hacer que pasen mejores sus días tan difíciles.

You're absolutely right, there is a deep responsibility to care for our parents and loved ones, especially when they become ill. It is not only a matter of physical care, but also emotional support and comfort. It's a way of showing our love and gratitude for everything they've done for us. Thanks for the hugs
