Splinterlands Modern League Bot Ban

The Splinterlands bot ban, valid for the modern league, came into effect yesterday. The results were surprising to me. After the first twenty battles, my win percentage increased to 65%, and I thought it was by chance. Because before the bot ban, my win rate was around 45%. I was barely catching the 50% average using bots in specific periods.

I reached the same win percentage in the next 20 games. I find it unbelievable to achieve such a win rate in Champion II. Because I like playing Splinterlands, I mostly played the battles myself. So, for months, I fought with the mills like Don Quixote. I knew for a while that the bot ban would kick in. I was playing the game for training also.

The impact of the card portfolio on results continues. Cards have become more critical in organic play. The game setups created by the bots made it possible to win with cheap cards. Can human opponents acquire these skills over time? As the number of cards increased, choosing the best strategy became more difficult. The combinations of the three rulesets are quite a lot, and after thousands of games, they are still combinations I've come across for the first time.

What consequences could a bot ban have besides motivating passionate gamers like me? I have observed that the SPS rewards obtained per game have increased. Some players who play the game for pleasure may return and create additional demand in the card market. What will people who play Splinterlands for commercial purposes do? Some of them can start playing manually, and some of them switch to Wild Format. The most undesirable scenario would be for them to sell their cards.

The recent change negatively impacted XBOT and ARCHMAGE, the most popular Splinterlands bots. Both tokens of the bots lost value in July. The ARCHMAGE token's depreciation was more remarkable compared to XBOT. The change may also benefit bots in the medium term because they have become "legal" for the Wild format. I do not intend to sell my XBOT token, as I will continue to use it in brawls.

In my opinion, banning bots in the modern league was an optimal solution. The word optimum means that the benefits outweigh the harms. Otherwise, a total ban on bot use would be considered. In this case, those who didn't have enough time to play the game would have to sell their Splinterlands assets.

TL;DR

The bot ban has come into play in the modern league and is a positive development. Fighting bots was extremely difficult. We have regained our enjoyment of the game. Are there people who want to get around the ban? I hope the bot developers will act responsibly and not allow such attempts.

After a few days, the financial consequences of the ban will become more apparent. My first impression is that card prices have increased slightly. Card prices have been on an upward trend for a while, though.

I want to have fun playing Splinterlands and earn lots of money. Am I asking too much? :)

Thank you for reading.
