Tournaments!

Since I started to play Splinterlands this was the point that I played the least of everything related to the game, it took me a while to learn how was the dynamics of this special tournaments and the mechanics and a little more still to really compete in them and not just participate, but all that learning led me to this tournament, which has been my best result so far and I want to share with you, so Welcome!

The preparation.

I already had my cards prepared for perform my gold Focus and as I play Modern and this tournament was with that format but Silver rank, the reality is that I was more than prepared. The entry fee was only 5 DEC and the modality was direct confrontations. In the qualification round I did not participate, so I was present from round 2 of the tournament.

Ronda 1 // Round 1

My first battle was a victory by default as my opponent didn't touch the battle button in time. For my second battle the possibilities opened up for me to use one of my strongest strategies using Chanceus the Great + Shieldbearer and reviving him up to three times and since the magic damage also hits the shield for the ruleset makes this strategy almost invincible. Advancing to the next round with two wins.

Ronda 2 // Round 2

ronda 2 torneo.png

Fog of war + Taking Sides; 99 mana

Unprotected + Holy Protection; 40 Mana

The speed boost combination of my Conqueror Jacek and Countess Sinash was deadly to overtake my opponent in the first battle. His three most dangerous cards shared the same weakness and it was a very low life and the Scattershot of my cards were not going to forgive that.

In the second battle it was a total merit on my part to study well the ruleset and splinters available and anticipate that my opponent would use magic. Having Elven Mystic in my deck was a great success because it nullifies the enemy summoner and my last two cards, Doctor Blight and Psychic Goblin were in charge of not letting that dangerous Kron heal. It was a long battle in which my Spirit Druid Grog was decisive.

Ronda 3 // Round 3

ronda 3 torneo.png

Close Range + Lost Legendaries; 19 Mana

Noxius Fumes + healed Out; 99 Mana

I love these low mana battles for the strategies, on this one I think my opponent was too wrong to put Zaku with a battle of only 19 mana points. and besides that, he also put 2 Melee cards that couldn't attack in the second line, a total waste of space.

With the Noxius Fumes activated and his Zaku in full splendor I needed a good strategy, which ended up being fixed by a bad alignment of my enemy, he did not take advantage of the ranged attack bonus of his Zaku and sent 5 of 6 monsters with Melee, 2 of them could not attack.

Ronda 4 // Round 4

ronda 4 torneo.png

Lost Legendaries + Regular ruleset; 30 Mana

Armored up + Explosive Weaponry; 54 Mana

There were only 8 participants left at this stage of the tournament and I was very exited. In the first battle my opponent tried to surprise me thinking he was going to use magic as in the second round, this made him use a tank that while not bad, when not facing magic is nothing special and accompanied by cards that do not have much life in general, perfect for my cards to knock him out.

The second battle of this match was a real spectacle for all and one of my favorites in the whole tournament, having Blast Ruleset I decided to use the combination of Agor Longtail + Venator Kinjo to nullify the damage of the ruleset, but combined with an incredible attack power granted by Raa, a card that with this ruleset can do 8 points of damage every turn, randomly. It is incredible to see its performance in battle with this ruleset.

Semifinal

semifinal.png

Target Practice + heavy Hitters; 46 Mana

Weak Magic + Even Stevens; 32 Mana

Unprotected + Broken Arrows; 28 Mana

In this round I lost the first battle with all the reason in the world, I decided to send a magic team and my opponent countered me with an Oshannus and a tank with a lot of attack.

However I managed to recover my wining streak in the next two rounds using the strategy of repairing the armor of my Shieldbearer and then intuiting very well a magic alignment in the third battle, I was about to use Thaddius Brood and I would have lost, because my tank was going to be Cursed Windeku that was not going to hold anything against the magic damage, which Oshannus did.

The great final!

final torneo.png

Unprotected + Regular ruleset; 38 Mana

Spreading Fury + Heavy Hitters; 30 Mana

Back to Basics + Close Range; 40 Mana

Stampede + Lost Legendaries; 28 Mana

Four very difficult battles in which I was able to obtain only one victory. That enemy Zaku left me out of combat twice thanks to the rulesets that were a little cruel to me. In the last battle I thought I had it but the Stampede was decisive and talking about the game that I could win, the revival of my Druid was the reason for that victory because of this:

image.png

The forcefield ability of my Mycelic Slipspawn and the ability to revive him in battle made me defeat his Grum, which was his only tank card, leaving the field open for me to finish his whole team piece by piece.

Premio.

Prize.

I leave very happy, I was very close to being champion and for only 5 DEC I got a prize of 2000. According to my percentage calculator that is 39900% more in relation to the price of the entry compared to what I earned participating, but beyond that I also keep everything I learned in the strategies of the tournament and that I will apply in the following ones. A very rewarding experience.

For now I'm gathering SPS in stake until I reach the minimum required to play Splinterlands tournaments, the closest I've seen is 600 and I'm a little over 400, so soon I'll start competing in those tournaments as well. In the meantime I will continue to participate in as many tournaments as I can while I play the next season on Diamond, farming as much SPS as possible.
