One of my favorite cards in the whole game: Flying Squid.

Cuando recien salio la edicion y aun existia el viejo sistema de recompensas lo que mas utilizaba era Agua, y aunque iba mas hacia la magia, poco a poco fui descubriendo el potencial real de las cartas Melee y Ranged y una de las que mas brillò en ese sentido fue Flying Squid, un tanque secundario que si se puede usar sin problemas por su habilidad Reach, es una carta que me parece brillante y en esta publicacion voy a intentar explicar por que, asi que ¡bienvenidos!

When the edition first came out and there was still the old reward system what I used the most was Water, and although it was more towards magic, little by little I discovered the real potential of the Melee and Ranged cards and one of the cards that shone the most in that sense was Flying Squid, a secondary tank that can be used without problems because of its Reach ability, it is a card that I think is brilliant and in this publication I will try to explain why, so welcome!

Primero hablemos de las estadisticas / First let's talk about the statistics

Flying Squid es una carta de rareza comun del Splinter Agua, perteneciente a la edicion Chaos Legion, esta carta tiene un costo de mana de 7 puntos lo que la hace un poco complicada de jugar en batallas de mana bajo, pero compensa muy bien eso con unas estadisticas bastante fuertes, desde nivel 1 tiene la habilidad Reach, en nivel 6 aprende Blind y en nivel 10 aprende Backfire.

¿Como le sacas provecho a esta carta?

Por su primera habilidad lo ideal es que utilices esta carta en la segunda posicion de tu equipo, detras del tanque para que sea un apoyo para este y que haga mucho daño. Si juegas en Oro vas a amar a esta carta en batallas con Melee pues la combinacion que hace su Blind con la velocidad de Kelya es espectacular, es importante enfocarte en la velocidad para que hagas brillar esta carta, por eso creo que un tanque excelente para usarlo con esta carta es Serpent Of Eld.

Flying Squid is a common rarity card from Water Splinter, belonging to the new Chaos Legion edition of Splinterlands, this card has a mana cost of 7 points which makes it a little complicated to play in low mana battles, but it compensates very well with some pretty strong stats, from level 1 it has the Reach ability, at level 6 it learns Blind and at level 10 it learns Backfire.

How do you take advantage of this card?

Because of its first ability the ideal is to use this card in the second position of your line up, behind your tank to be a support for it and do a lot of damage with the Reach ability. If you play in Gold rank or higher you will love this card in Melee battles because the combination of its Blind ability with Kelya's speed and armor buff is spectacular, it is important to focus on grow your speed to make this card shine on battle, so I think an excellent tank to use with this card is Serpent Of Eld.

Supply Runner es un gran soporte para esta carta cuando tiene Blind porque aumenta la velocidad de tus cartas, tambien podria funcionar en una alineacion antimagia usando como tanque al poderoso Bakjira, que ademas ralentiza a tus oponentes.

Supply Runner is a card that work as a great support for this card when it has Blind because it increases the speed of your cards, it could also work in an antimagic lineup using the powerful Bakjira as a tank, which also slows down your opponents.

La batalla que dejo como ejemplo demuestra lo bien que funciona lo que dije arriba, Kelya como invocador potencia mucho al Flying Squid por la velocidad y la armadura y es por eso que la elegi como mi invocador. Veamos la alineacion:

The battle I leave as an example shows how well it works what I said above, Kelya as a summoner greatly enhances the Flying Squid for speed and armor and that's why I chose her as my summoner. Let's see the lineup:

  • Mi Serpent of Eld se potencia con el primer buff de Kelya, el Inspire de mi River Hellondale y el Blind de mi otro Calamar, el Giant Squid. Formando la sinergia primaria entre mis habilidades pues funcionan muy bien al combinarse.

  • La armadura de Kelya es buena para todas mis cartas, mi Oshannus seria un posible muro antimagia, mi River Hellondale tiene Revivir que es una gran habilidad de apoyo y el Oportunism de mi Deeplurker siempre viene bien, siempre. Formando asi una sinergia secundaria, habilidades que son de apoyo para la sinergia primaria.

  • My Serpent of Eld is boosted by Kelya's first buff, the Inspire from my River Hellondale and the Blind from my other Squid, the Giant Squid. Forming the primary synergy between my abilities as they work very well when combined.

  • Kelya Frendull's armor is good for all my cards, my Oshannus would be a possible antimagic wall, my River Hellondale has Revive which is a great support ability and my Deeplurker's Opportunism always comes in handy, always. Thus forming a secondary synergy, abilities that support the whole primary synergy.

El ruleset de esta batalla anulaba el buff de armadura de Kelya pero eso no iba a ser un problema para mi, pues como explique en el punto anterior, mis dos combinaciones de habilidades harian el trabajo, tanto asi que para la ronda 2 ya la batalla estaba sentenciada. 2 ataques esquivados por mis monstruos y unos ataques increiblemente fuertes, haciendo un total posible de 20 puntos de daño por turno, imposible sobrevivir a eso.

The Unprotected ruleset combination of this battle nullified Kelya's armor buff but that was not going to be a problem for me, because as I explained in the previous point, my two skill combinations would do the job, so much so that by round 2 the battle was already sentenced. 2 attacks dodged by my monsters and some incredibly strong attacks, making a possible total of 20 points of damage per turn, impossible to survive that.

Este es un ejemplo parecido en el que mi Flying Squid termino siendo el tanque y aguantando hasta el final para darme la victoria.

Entender los puntos debiles donde le puedes sacar ventaja a tu enemigo es primordial para convertirte en un buen jugador ¡enfocate en mejorar eso y veras como tu winrate aumentará muchisimo!

This is a similar example in which my Flying Squid ended up being the tank and holding on until the end to give me the victory.

Understanding the weak points where you can take advantage of your enemy is essential to become a good player, focus on improving that and you will see how your winrate will increase a lot!

Reach is such a useful ability, but it doesn't always come with the stats to back it up.

That's right, I think where this ability stands out best is in battles where there is a lot of Melee monsters.
