Spend Vouchers or wait it out? Future prices of vouchers + Giveaway (Cards or SBI share)
The sentiment around the next Splinterlands Chaos legion packs sale is a little troublesome. Some people don't seem to be willing to spend the extra vouchers in order to buy packs and are opting for waiting until the next 2M packs sell out.
This will be a problem because the more people that decide to wait the longer it will take for the 2M packs to end. I have friends that want to get into the game but are not willing to pay the extra money required to buy vouchers so they're taking their money elsewhere while they wait.
So who will be buying the packs? Most likely the people that get a lot of free vouchers from their SPS staking and want to build up their Chaos legion collection.
Voucher prices:
The following predictions assume that Splinterlands will not give vouchers any additional utility any time soon.
I'm only guessing here but it seems to me that the price will suffer a lot. There are a lot of factors putting downward pressure on the price:
- Double the daily print
- Less hype, around the sale and the airdropped cards
- No guaranteed airdrop card
- Players opting to sell their vouchers to be able to buy more packs once vouchers are no longer mandatory
A larger supply and less demand can only lead to one outcome. I don't know where the price will stabilize. I'm throwing a number just for fun: $2 / $3.

Yeah, I am not sure what will happen with the next 2 million. I do think the price should stabilize higher than $2 or $3 though, just because in the general sale you will be able to trade a voucher for a $4 bonus pack. I have much more SPS staked now than I did for the presale, but I'm still debating at what price point I would want to buy packs rather than sell the vouchers.
I do think vouchers will steadily drop over time until they are eventually assigned utility at which point they will pump hard.
I'm guessing that vouchers will eventually replace SPS staking requirements for tournaments. Basically, this would allow the utility of SPS to effectively transfer to vouchers and also enables a wider population base to start participating in tournaments which can only increase the competitiveness and ultimately media attention of them.
As for reward, dealers choice. I post regularly but I can always use a phantasm.

Build up a nice stack and be ready for day 1 of general sale. It's not worth spending vouchers unless price tanks altogether.
People will be going crazy for CL packs even in the second phase and also on the open market. Think that there are interested parties that expressed the willingness to buy CL packs for a few hundred thousand and even million dollars. And if you consider the number of players already in the game - let's assume 1M, these will all want to buy from the 12M supply, which would give an average of just 12 packs per user.
Vouchers will keep up in value and if they will decrease I think that there will be many buyers, me included. ;)

I’ll choose the SPI. I don’t expect 20-25 again but around 10 wouldn’t surprise me. 15 if early FOMO kicks in. Still not sure everyone understands how the airdrops work.

I agree with you on the $2-$3 price for vouchers. Perhaps it might even be $4-$5 dollars. That is roughly the premium Chaos Legion packs are currently trading on the secondary market.

Considering the vouchers won't be as important to get some promo cards or such and only offer some bonus packs or potions i think the price will drop quite abit and since everyone will be getting 2x even more so.
The real question is since the general sale depends on when the 2million packs are bought how many will hoard until the very last minute to extend the 2nd phase of pack time as much as possible so they can get as many packs as possible during the 2nd phase without having to fight everyone during the general sale?
