Playing Rebellion Earth Deck

With Rebellion now in, it has really mixed up the dynamics of the game big time in modern and everyone is looking around for strategies on how to play now. With untamed rotating out, many of our favorite and powerful combos are now gone and what has replaced them?

Looking in the bronze league where I have mostly been playing recently, there are the soulbound summoners paired with a powerful glad card that is causing havoc to many strategies. Normally I wouldnt think to play the soulbound summoners very often, but now it seems they are becoming a first choice paired with particularly Quora Towershead.

The combo is quite often beatable if you have a good deck with some key monsters and know to use them, but it can be close very often. The other ways I have sometimes seen are decks now playing rebellion only mostly and utilising the new monsters and summoner abilities. These decks are catching me by surprise and at the moment I don't know how to combat them. Rebellion is going to be pretty powerful I think.

I decided to start to learn the new Rebellion cards and an idea suggested by @achim03 was to buy the base cards and practice them with your alt. So in this spirit, I bought the earth cards at level 1 for my alt account and am now playing them in bronze to try and see how they are working and what cards could be key.

The cost was around $22, with the pricey cards being the legendaries Lord Thanalor, Zebajin and the epic card Satha Toledo who has the tank heal ability.

After buying them, it gave me alot more options of cards to use for earth summoner matches. Not to mention 3 extra summoners who are particularly interesting to use and mix things up alot too. 2 of the summoners are dual summoners and allow you to play earth/fire or earth/life combos. This really shakes up the dynamics and helps if you run a complete deck to take the full advantage.

I never thought I would see the day where I could play Queen Mycelia alongside Pelacor Arbalest! Here you can see also using just a level 1 rebellion summoner, was able to defeat a legendary summoner quite easily.. I think being able to bring in Pelacor Arbalest in made the difference.

Next what is really throwing me so far and I have no idea how best to play it, is the summoners with tactical ability where you get a tactic stage. Here I have now the summoner Underboss Fabino who can give a +2 melee attack or poison a monster once the cards have been revealed!

This could really give some extra advantage to real players and also turns the gameplay on its head a little. Here I could poison the tank repair and give me a nice advantage. My opponent can give a heal ability out with his rebellion summoner. Once the cards are revealed, he can decide where is best to place it.

These are some of the new dynamics of the game and it is a big plus for Splinterlands now and a good time to play when things have been mixed up so much. New players can learn the new tactics and gain some nice advantage over long term players if they want to.

My next steps will be to add the neuteral rebellion monsters to expand my earth deck ability and see how they can be utilised. So far it is lots of fun playing the rebellion earth deck and it will get interesting when I level them up to gold.
