I have pretty much implemented the same strategy and my core set will be the soulbound cards from May next year. Unless the rebellion set drops in price, (currently 5k Vs 0.5k CL)I cannot see myself buying any cards as they lose value once they rotate out. It's a shame, but I accept it for what it is.

Completely agree, I love Splinterlands and will play even when the Chaos Legion are no longer playable in the Modern Format but until things change for the better I will no longer buy packs and will only buy cards at a price in line with the time of use in the Modern Format and right now such cards do not exist
