A tale of FIRE & ICE WATER

Hello Splinterfans!

Welcome to part 2 of my Fire and Water Splinter series. Last week we looked at the Fire Splinter and this week we look at what the Water Splinter has to offer.

Fire & Water.jpg

After seeing what the fire splinter has to offer, do you think the water splinter is up to the challenge? Let's see by first checking what powerful summoners there are.

My favorite and go-to summoner for the water deck is the mighty Kelya Frendul. He gives a +1 shield and speed buff and this can be very handy for your team if you want to get your attacks in first and defend your weaker monsters.

One of the favorite summoners for many people is the mighty wizard himself Alric Stormbringer. He is giving a +1 magic buff the same as Obsidian but for just a 3 mana cost.

image.png

Other interesting summoners are Bortus who inflicts a -1 magic attack on your enemy. So you do not gain any buffs, but debuff your enemy. This can be very useful in certain situations.

Of the legendary summoners, probably the most interesting is the quite recent Possibilus the Wise who gives some interesting buffs to your team. Lir Deepswimmer is also very powerful, but also very expensive, especially at the higher levels.

Choosing a Tank

The water splinter has a very good selection of tanks for every occasion. My favorite is the very powerful legendary tank Baakjira who can be very powerful with extra health, heal, and void which is great against a magic attack. At a cost of only 6, he can be perfect for those mid-level mana battles.

If your opponent will use magic attack, Djinn Oshannus himself can be a good monster to step up in the tank position. If you are playing wild and a large mana-cap battle, then the beast The Kraken could be a great choice. He is a must even in Splinterforge! With his high health, attack, and swift speed, The Kraken can cause some devastation.

For those lower-level battles, you have Cruel Sethropod, although he is vulnerable to magic attack. Diemonshark is another great tank choice if you are facing a melee opponent.

Melee Attack

A strong advantage of the water splinter is it's array of melee monsters that can prove a deadly combination together.

First up we have the very powerful Pelacor Bandit, with his flying and sneak abilities. He is also already quite fast at level 1. This means together he has a good chance to evade attacks too.

Combined with the opportunity monster Deeplurker with his very powerful attack, you can cause some serious damage to your opponent's backline. If you are looking for some support for your tank, you have some good choices in Flying Squid and Tide Biter. Tide Biter has the awesome reflection shield to prevent him from taking certain types of damage such as blast and thorns.

To complement your melee attack you also have the great demented shark who can give all your melee monsters a +1 melee attack with his inspire ability.

Magic Attack

No mention of the water deck would be complete without a mention of the powerful magic attack available with Alric Stormbringer

The goto card for many is Ruler of the Seas with his high magic attack at a low mana cost of just 6. Combine this with some of his other abilities when upgraded, he can prove very lethal to any opponent. He doesn't come cheap though...

A legendary monster worth mentioning is River Hellondale who can inspire your melee attack proving very deadly and then resurrect allows him to bring a friendly monster back to life. Just imagine it was one with a large shield and we have the weak magic ruleset.

Worthy mentions to your water magic attack are coral wraith with his great sneak magic attack that can catch your opponent unaware and River Nymph with the very powerful cleanse ability. Cleansing your tank from noxious fumes can turn a game around.

Summary:

The water splinter is fast, has plenty of armor and comes with some good melee and magic attack options. It is a worthy opponent and you would be wise not to underestimate it.

Is the water splinter powerful enough to take on the fire splinter and douse those flames? Who will win when they face off against each other?

We will find out next week in the final part when they do battle.

Thanks for reading.

The water splinter is actually my best splinter, this is because it's got variety in all type of cards.. I still don't own the permbook nymph. It's also a water summoner I'll like to have or own.

I really like the water splinter too, the monsters are very powerful and there are lots of variations that you can play. I have just got the new Permbook Nymph, it will be interesting to play with some gladiator cards.

Great analysis! As a water tank unit I sometimes use Torhilo The Frozen in high-mana battles. Besides being well-armored and having void, it also does some serious melee damage.

Thanks. Torhilo is also a great addition as a tank, especially with the reverse speed ruleset! !ALIVE !LOL

With the Epic Water Monster Torhilo the Frozen, you usually won't need to use the Rare Water Summoner Bortus as your Summoner, letting you use other Water Summoners such as the Rare Kelya Frendul without being so vulnerable to opponent Magic attacks. 🤓

At Level 4, Torhilo the Frozen gets the Last Stand Ability (and 1 more Health, Attack, and Armor), which makes it much more powerful on your team (especially on Battles with low Mana Cap). 🤓 !LUV

According to the #PeakMonsters market, the price of each BCX of the Torhilo the Frozen Card gets reduced by about 12% when you buy enough BCX to reach Level 5 of the Card. 🤓 !LUV

is it cheaper to rent though?

I don't know how much DEC (or CREDITS) you are willing to spend to rent Torhilo the Frozen, but its Rental prices per level per day are as follows (by looking at the #PeakMonsters market): 🤓

  • Level 1 = 0.195 DEC
  • Level 2 = 0.784 DEC
  • Level 3 = 3.482 DEC
  • Level 4 = 5.333 DEC
  • Level 5 and 6 = 15.319 DEC

The Rental price of Level 6 of that Card right now is actually slightly cheaper than its Level 5, so you should check out each level if you want to avoid spending more for your rental than is necessary. 🤗 !LUV

Thanks 5 DEC per day isnt too shabby for such a strong card. !LUV

Despite Torhilo the Frozen being a powerful Card, I want to use it only in Battles with Reverse Speed Rule or low Mana Cap. 🤔 Its Speed of 1 in a Battle without the Reverse Speed Rule makes it almost unable to hit targets with Speed of 3 or higher, especially those which have the Flying or Dodge Ability. 😅

Yes, this can be frustrating, there are many good choices in the water deck, it can be hard sometimes. I need to find some low-mana snipe monsters though. !LOLZ

(Edited)

There are only 3 Monsters in the Water Splinter with the Snipe Ability, which are the following: 🤓

  • Common Pirate Captain which costs 3 Mana (which I assume is the one you would most prefer)
  • Common Sniping Narwhal which costs 5 Mana
  • Rare Sea Stalker which costs 8 Mana, but at Level 1 already has 4 Attack and the Camouflage Ability which prevents it from being attacked from the middle or back position

Nice one, I test them out. Sea Stalker has also the lovely Cleanse ability! !LUV !LOLZ

While Cleanse is a very useful Ability (especially in Battles with the Noxious Fumes Rule where all Monsters start the Battle with the Poison debuff), the primary use of the Sea Stalker should still be as a damage dealer targeting the opponent's middle or back row Monsters. 🤓

There are 3 other Water Splinter Monsters which also have the Cleanse Ability, which are the Rare River Nymph at Level 1, the Rare Kelp Initiate at Level 3, and the Epic Mermaid Healer at Level 6. 😏 !LUV !LOLZ

Only the Legendary Summoner Scarred Llama Mage has the Cleanse Ability in the Earth Splinter - no Earth Monsters so far with that Ability. 😅 !PIZZA

Yes, it's disheartening. !LOL

Since the #Splinterlands game evolves rapidly, you would find an Earth Splinter Monster that has the Cleanse Ability in no time. 🤗 It would likely be even better if the new Monster with that Ability is on the Neutral Splinter. 😏 !PIZZA

That would be pretty handy. !PIZZA

It is more interesting to upgrade useful #Splinterlands Monsters that are released for the Neutral Splinter than the other Splinters (plus the only Neutral Summoner which is the Legendary Lux Vega if you can afford it), since you can use those Monsters on almost any Battle. 🤓 !PIZZA

Yeah, I have been buying many neuteral monsters. 😀 !PIZZA

Since a #Splinterlands player is more likely to use Monsters from the Neutral Splinter than any other Splinter (not to mention the Rare Monster Furious Chicken which is useful in almost every Battle in Wild Ranked), you might want to consider having the Gold Foil edition of Neutral Monsters. 😀 !PIZZA

You might want to start with buying the Gold Foil edition of the Common Neutral Monster Disintegrator (very useful in Battles with the Up Close & Personal Rule), which costs only $1.40 per BCX (not at Level 1) right now on the #Splinterlands market. 🤓

Thats a good idea. I didnt even upgrade my Disintegrator as I don't use him too much. What is the Make It Personal Rule? I couldn't find it?! !LOL
